Agree. Wish they'd kept the Blues name. Two logos are the extremes; cheesy and too plain. They could have found middle ground between the two. I do like the new one better, but needs a bit more.....something
Should have rebranded as the LA Blues of Orange County......and play home games in San Diego. [emoji41]

Yallop connection I bet got him there. Will be nice to see him play, though not good enough for MLS anymore, USL is the new retirement league!
Ream tweeted that he's been talking to USL Prez Jack Edwards and Edwards told him that: There will be six to eight expansion teams in the next three years. There are active negotiations with a group in Fresno for a USL franchise (I think I saw elsewhere that this is not necessarily Fuego). A bay area team has applied to USL (Ream says, presumably from his own contacts, it's not SF City). Assuming this is an existing team, that pretty much leaves the Deltas. It's hard to imagine that it would be Burlingame. Are there any other pro teams in the bay area? And, no, don't say SJ!
Sounds like its Deltas. Ream won't say. That's reasonable considering they are just starting a season in a rival league.
Very interesting - but wasn't it rumored the Deltas were going to join USL this year when there was all the uncertainty about the NASL even existing? Could be them, especially if no other NASL teams pop up in the west.
In the NASL expansion thread, someone mentioned that an Oakland group was trying to start up a team. They mentioned it as working with NASL, but there's no reason they couldn't have discussions with each league.
Maybe. Ream specifically said, "not SFC FC", but when asked if it was Deltas, he wouldn't reply. I asked if he was being purposefully vague, and he just replied with a wink.
Helmick (SF Deltas owner) was asked in an interview (can't look it up right now) about the near-collapse of NASL, and if he'd explored options. He was very upfront about looking at USL, but said the cost to jump leagues was too much for a team that had yet to play a game.
This rumor has been heard around here as well. Would be bummed if it wasnt the Fuego. Ive also heard Fuego would still exist in PDL despite and a non Fuego Fresno USL team. I for one wouldnt support a non Fuego team.

As impressive as the bicycle kick was last week in OKC, it has competition for USL goal of the week. Check out the mid-field shot: I still voted for bicycle kick. Edit: Turns out that the mid-field shot is currently in last place.
Can someone tell me how Phoenix Rising gets an ownership group that includes Omar Bravo, Shaun Wright-Phillips, and DIDIER DROGBA? With Drogba apparently set to play for them in the future as well? http://www.espnfc.us/united-soccer-...h-usls-phoenix-rising-as-player-and-executive
I do not believe Bravo and Wright-Phillips are in the ownership group, too, are they? (Unless this is the new concept to entice international-level players.) The actual ownership group has many people in it, including Pete Wentz and Diplo and Brandon McCarthy. (To be fair, musicians have traditionally been somewhat mercurial when it comes to part ownership of American soccer teams.) Drogba is supposed to play NOW (he is not getting any younger), or as soon as he is ready, while the team ownership/ sporting director stuff is supposed to happen later. The view from here is that the group is better funded than any of the previous efforts, and that they are not shy about spending it in a variety of avenues. If they keep getting 7k a game, that is not a problem. They will have the offseason to bolster the infrastructure of the stadium and expand it if things continue to go well. Anyone who has been paying attention to this market for a while is cautiously optimistic. Every group talks big. These guys are spending big. How they came to decide to buy what was Arizona United I do not know. But so far, so good. (Oh, Yallop resigned today, so that could be perceived as evidence that all is not well. Or it could be nothing.)
Wow. I guess I haven't been following. I read this in the article: "Drogba will team up with former New York Red Bull Shaun Wright-Phillips and former Mexico international Omar Bravo as the club vies for one of the four coveted expansion spots on offer from MLS that are expected to be announced later in 2017." and assumed they were owners too. I didn't realize they were both PLAYING for PHX. That is rather amazing. PHX is clearly making a hard push for notoriety as part of its MLS push.
