Is first-year LAFC to MLS what the first-year Vegas Golden Knights have been to the NHL? GO SAN JOSE EARTHQUAKES!!! -G
Specifically Marco Urena looked great, even before RSL's morale broke. And the announcers don't seem to like him. Even when they said "great pass" they wouldn't use his name. Also, those announcers were terrible.
I saw the same thing, Urena was a force on the field which begs the question: Was our coaching staff too stupid to utilize his real talent? I also agree on the announcers, if I had to listen to them orally fellate Vela and the rest of LafChivas one more time I would have committed ritual suicide.
As I posted in the other thread above, after watching week 2, it looks like we are gonna have problems with LAFC, RBNY, HOU, and a lot of other teams... Note that RBNY defeated POR 4-0, using mostly RBNY's reserve team. 9 of the first team players were rested for the CCL game on i think it is this coming Tuesday. LAFC is looking potent, guys. They are winning AWAY and scoring goals, which is something we haven't done for a long time.
I don’t get why Urena couldn’t stay on with the Quakes. I guess they are committed to Wondo and Hoesen up front so Marco was the odd man out. I’m sure he will be happy in LA though. As long as he doesn’t go to the Gals, I’m fine with him being down there.
Yes. Kinnear's coaching team grossly misused most of the talent they had at their disposal, especially offensive talent. Leitch had an uphill battle to climb after stepping in and backpedaled to Kinnear-like gameplans in most of their MLS fixtures, probably as a result of pressure from disgruntled players. I don't think Urena was irreplaceable and San Jose probably chose correctly when opting to protect Hoesen instead of Urena, but I think Urena clearly had more ability than he was able to show due to constantly being paired with Wondolowski instead of Hoesen (meaning he was playing for two players much of the time) and a lack of a clear offensive plan, since Kinnear never bothered trying to put one together.
In the Seattle game he was the Urena we normally saw, a lot of running around, but, not accomplishing much. He ended up being subbed off. However, I still thought the Quakes could make use of him.

It gives a whole new meaning when the crowd yells, "shoot"! http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/43369490
Is there really much of a comparison to Chivas? LAFC is doing what a second LA club should have done in the first place. Their own downtown stadium, marketing to more than a niche group of supporters, local ownership....
Kinda shocking to me that Stu Holden & Bobby Convey have been nominated to the USSoccer Hall of Fame... http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2018/...-among-national-hall-fame-ballot-new-nominees

http://sfcityfc.com/news/sf-city-fc-returns-to-the-us-open-cup/ San Francisco City FC is proud to announce we have qualified for the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup. The Club will represent San Francisco in this 105th edition of the Open Cup Tournament, with the first round scheduled for Wednesday May 9th. We are deeply honored to represent our great city and continue San Francisco’s legacy of success in the Open Cup.
I think omitting Holden might be warranted due to limited service, not lack of talent, on the Nats, but I can see Convey's contribution not being warrented
