East St. Louis is in Illinois, a separate state. But, yes, it is further evidence of a clearly-demarcated racial divide.
We just placed an order for a BMW i3 and tried to get the Earthquakes some credit for the lease, since BMW is a sponsor. But I didn't know what was available, so didn't get any kind of earthquakes discount or brownie points or whatever.
Duke Ellington's nephew lives on North Eleventh St. in downtown San Jose, in the oldest continuously-occupied African-American household in town (circa 1908). Joyce Ellington Branch Library is named for the nephew's late wife.
This Guardian write up of the Leicester-Sevilla game is refreshingly funny https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...rives-leicester-past-sevilla?CMP=share_btn_tw
Okay, he's said "involved with" several times... can't you tell the difference between "involved with" and "at war with"?
Wow, Becker got huge since then! He was a big guy on stage last year when I saw Steely Dan at the Mountain Winery
Did you read his original post? His "involved with" was just him having to "Spicer" his original comment when more than one person pointed out he was wrong.
Spicer as a verb. I like it. In falvo's defense, "at war with" is an intrinsically ambiguous phrase in light of current custom to divest Congress of its traditional role of actually declaring war, not to mention the transition of combat, like all forms of what was heretofore reality, into cyberspace. We're arguably at war with everyone all the time these days.
Philipp Lahm playing mid, second string GK started, Boateng gave away a pk (prob his worst performance this season) Carlo Ancelotti was still in his experimental phase. Lahm has already announced his retirement at the end of the season. He has recently rejected an offer from Bayern to become their sporting director.Wonder if he will head to Chicago to play with his buddy Bastian Schweinsteiger? It would be nice if the Quakes got him to replace Bernardez and pair him up with Florian....
Wait, aren't you the guy who is against MLS bringing in aging stars? So, you advocate replacing a 34 year old with a 33 year old? And Lahm has played nearly his entire career as a fullback, he is not a CB. Wrong, wrong, wrong.
On second thought it won't ever happen but there is a huge difference between signing a 33 year old World Cup Winning all star German defender and signing two broken down almost 40 year old forwards from England and the Ivory Coast that cost over $10 million total. CB or not, Lahm would easily be a great defender in MLS and the best ever on the Quakes. He is also still two years younger than Bernardez and would contribute a lot more than Victor ever did. He can also play in midfield which is something no other Quakes defender could do..
Lothar was another almost 40 year old and was still on the national team and played in Euro 2000 which affected his NY Metros schedule. He also went to a beach resort after the Euros and didn't care about going back to NY. Lothar milked it but again, even though he will most likely never come, to San Jose , hypothetically, Lahm is retired from the national team and won't have that obligation. He could easily play another 3 MLS seasons as a defender before he turns 37/38.
