ATL getting completely dominated for last 15 minutes. They miss from 4 yards. If MIN had finishers...

Well that's because he is the leader of our defense, organizing everyone with his vision and play anticipation while simultaneously controlling the airspace around our goal and dispossessing opposing wingers for two years straight. So underappreciated.
Apparently Mandzukic is off to LAFC. That is a decent signing for them, but apparently Mandzukic's legs might be gone. Regardless, we have seen first hand that having a big striker that doesn't always move a lot can work in the MLS. Plus Mandzukic is a pretty crafty striker.
They seem a little underrated at this point because no one is talking about them, but NYCFC seems to be on quite a run.
Perfect results for us so far today. DAL was crushed 4-0 by CHI (??) and SJE went down 2-1 to NYCFC. WC teams giving their points to Eastern Conference obviously helps our playoff chances. Other teams are playing their roles - now we just need to start doing our own part.
Yesterday was weird. Of the last 6 games played, 5 ended with the least likely outcome (result, pregame prob): CLB win @ATL, 12% CIN win @MON, 15% LAFC draw @ PHI, 21% NER draw @ ORL, 23% HOU loss @ VAN, 41% DCU win @ POR, 18%
I notice that since Wayne Rooney secured his departure to Derby, he's barely had a positive thing to say about MLS.
I'm just guessing here but it seems to me that he went through a tough time. Wifey unhappy, family unhappy. I have this from the most reputable of sources: https://www.thesun.co.uk/tvandshowbiz/9431923/coleen-rooney-wayne-strict-rules-drinking/
So tonight we obviously want Portland to fail to win vs NYRB. The other game is interesting in that there is an argument that every result helps the Galaxy in some way. A Seattle win probably cements our playoff status but makes finishing ahead of Seattle much tougher A draw is maybe best all around as only two points are awarded between the two teams instead of 3 A Dallas win maybe puts our playoff hopes alone down a little bit but if we're feeling good about our last 4 games we might want this so we have a better chance of finishing 2 or 3. Pick your poison.
The results went just the way we want. If the Galaxy can get their game together, they now control their own destiny for a home playoff game. 4 wins and we finish no worse than 3rd in the west and possibly even 2nd. 3 wins and we are probably in the playoffs....
I’d go so far as to say two wins is guaranteed playoffs. 7 points hosts a playoff game. All the other teams have really tough run ins. Perfect results tonight.
PS - anyone have any idea why there was a combined 17 minutes of second half stoppage time between the two games other then to give me a heart attack? Neither game should have had more then 3-4.
San Jose self-destructs against Atlanta. Tied 1-1 with in the 90th minute despite playing a man down for 55 minutes. 2 goals and sandwiching a red card and they’re on 44 points.
That was a very entertaining mls match. San Jose outworks Atlanta before and after their red card. But they just couldn’t hang on and conceded two in last 5 minutes. The despair and collapse of their players after losing the draw they were hanging onto was delicious. Almayda snd wondo also red carded from the bench. Good stuff for the Galaxy! As a neutral (or even someone rooting for Atlanta) I have to say that ref Chris penso gave every close call to Atlanta. San Jose players surrounding officials after game.
Also Martinez injured, had to leave the game ending his 15 consecutive game scoring streak. Hopefully not serious. I’ve never wished injury on any player not named Lenhart.
