He's got a unique skillset compared to the rest of our pool and he's only 23.....I assume Bruce has had the necessary talks with him so I'm very happy with this.
I like what I have seen of Saief. Could add something to the attack in midfield and on wings. Gold Cup would be the perfect way for him to acclimate into the US setup.
So there's two different Bruce's. There was LAG Bruce who criticized calling in players developed outside the US. Then there's NT Bruce who wastes little time in getting Saief to file a one time switch. Good pick up though. He can play as a true winger out left. We're very short on true wingers as the Nagbe/Bedoya types aren't true wingers. Can also play some ACM we're we're also quite short on options.
To my knowledge he's brought in all the contending dual nats. Brooks Jones, Chandler, Fab etc. The one's he's left off are fringe players who he likely just doesn't rate. He even called in Joe Corona and Jesse Gonzalez which is surprising
I'll admit I was wondering at the halftime of T&T if this was going to drop: 874419690415828992 is not a valid tweet id
I know folks are acting all surprised about this, but the writing has been on the wall for 6 months. Remember that Jesse had originally accepted a January camp invitation, before ultimately deciding not to go. He took 6 months to make this decision, and I of course think its the right one............................. Next FCDer to finish off is Jesus Ferreira.
Interesting that Mexico didn't let Gonzalez go without a fight: México have pushed hard to keep Gonzalez as well ... even Osorio has spoken with him #eltrieng https://t.co/AEqb5nvUtn— Tom Marshall (@mexicoworldcup) June 13, 2017
The good news is that although no official paperwork has been submitted to FIFA yet, Gonzalez has already sent a signed letter of intent to the USSF to switch, confirmed by both ESPN FC and Sports Illustrated. And the USSF spokesman said the process for the one-time switch has already begun and Gonzalez is in the document-gathering phase. So it should just be a matter of time before he's with the US.
Sounds like the application may have been submitted and FIFA is reviewing it. USSF waiting on FIFA to review application for Jesse Gonzalez to switch affiliation from Mexico to US. For Gold Cup purpose, it needs (1/2)— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) June 16, 2017 to be completed by June 27. Even if it misses that deadline, there's no turning back: He is eligible for #usmnt only in future (2/2)— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) June 16, 2017
Goff states directly that, according to the USSF, Gonzalez has filed the switch. This is all but a done deal. He filed via USSF. Ball in FIFA's court. Approval expected in coming weeks.— Steven Goff (@SoccerInsider) June 17, 2017
I really hope that Jesse's advisors let him know that once the paperwork is filed...............that's it. He can't go back. Even if he never plays a game for the USMNT. Cuz his comments to the media throughout this whole process suggest he hasn't made a decision.
Maybe Jesse's advisors should use the official FIFA language more: instead of "one-time switch", say "definite" and "irreversible" "change of association".

The updated master list as of June 2017: IN Teal Bunbury Edgar Castillo Jesse Gonzalez Julian Green Aron Johannsson Fabian Johnson Jermaine Jones Aaron Maund Kenny Saief OUT Arturo Alvarez (to El Salvador) Dustin Correa (to El Salvador) Jeremy Hall (to Puerto Rico) Fuad Ibrahim (to Ethiopia) Gerson Mayen (to El Salvador) Nick Millington (to Guyana) Alex Nimo (to Liberia) Nevin Subotic (to Serbia) Zarek Valentin (to Puerto Rico)
Alejandro "Tony" Taylor played for U.S. youth internationals, then switched to Panama. So I'd think he qualifies.

Should Moises Hernandez be on the "out" list? He was on our roster for the 2011 U20 CONCACAF Championships. Did he actually get to play in that tournament? I can't remember.................. I think its possible he did, and had to file a one time switch to Guatemala.
I was able to find the technical report for the U20 WCQs in 2011 and he did play in 2 matches in the tournament. http://www.concacaf.com/article/under-20-championship-2011-technical-report That means he had to have filed a one-time switch to play for Guatemala.
