but still in mls...all you have to know is there is a guy last season who broke the scoring record...literally no interest internationally.

You are using literally incorrectly. There was quite a bit of interest in Martinez from outside MLS, and some from La Liga, Ligue 1 and the prem. There was no indication that anyone was willing to meet the club valuation on him, and the club and player reached a new, improved deal that made him quite happy to stay. But there was interest, and it was widely reported.
You've also stated that the gold cup is "literally garbage." It is a national team tourney. It may be a lesser one, but it is one the US must enter
MLS is actually gaining respect over here.

oh yeah I heard like 50m 100m...just not enough for atlanta to bite lol. almiron is a better player and was sold for less so I don't believe it at all. Remember when everyone was desperate for nagbe in europe lol.

if big teams wanted the guy they wouldn't have let a price tag stop them.

yes the gc is a tournament the us should enter every time but winning it isn't a big deal. losing it is a disaster though because of how bad it is. Last tournament they beat teams that literally have never even been to the last three rounds of wc qualification its like france celebrating beating moldova.

? Nobody reported that there were $100m offers for Martinez. On your low end, that's the price Ozil, a world cup and CL winner and starter at RMad at the time brought when he moved to Arsenal. No one pretends MLS players are at that level. Thinking price is no object for teams over here is simply incorrect. Price is always a huge part of any transfer. there are a very few players worldwide who draw fees as high as what you're talking about. there are very few clubs who pay money like that.
And, if France is drawn into a qualification group with Moldova, they do still celebrate qualifying for the euros or a WC. Germans win the cup more often than others in Europe, and they celebrate every Euro and WCup qualifying victory.
It's true that the US should go into every Gold Cup hoping to win the thing, Same can be said for Mexico. They can't both win, however. the US has won 6. Mexico has won 7. Canada won the other. I'm not really sure what more the US should be expected to do in that regard.
I'm also not sure why this is in a Jordan Morris thread. He's had a fantastic start to his season, looks to have put the injury behind him, and he's been thrilling in the process.

I repeat if a club wanted him they would've made it happen, dude is literally the most overrated player in the league.

no france doesn't celebrate beating them because they get them early in the process and its expected. they don't say 'oh he scored that goal against moldova he'll save us'. the gold cup is a jr high competition the us should expect to win it because there isn't a good team in the thing and most the teams are straight up bad/terrible. its this gold cup attitude that left people all excited about qualifying because ba had beaten a bunch of terrrible teams in matches that don't count for anything. the gold cup really doesn't even count for anything at this point I am not sure if the us should even participate or maybe send a u23 squad from now on if that wouldn't be a better idea.

These are businesses man. The club could love and want a player but if the other club is asking for too much they will turn elsewhere. No club looks at just a single player for a role. They have several options and while they may prefer one over another that doesn’t mean they’ll just throw ubsurd sums of money to get said player.

And in the opener against Cincinnati it must be stated that he scored a real cracker with his much maligned left foot (starts at 2:28):

Because Morris wasn't available for the T&T match. Otherwise the U.S. probably would have qualified. He kept the team alive at Honduras with the game-tying assist in a match he greatly out-played Pulisic in btw. Service sucked because Christian had tunnel vision as he's accustomed to. Not to imply he's as good as or better than Pulisic, but they were good enough for him to struggle against. And we lost against Jamaica in the previous Gold Cup. Some people gotta always confirm their biases though.

    totally true

psg was looking for an attacker and just came across this kid from monaco on their list. no need to pay an absurd amount of money attackers are easy to find for cheap they had a long list. this past year juve was looking for an attacker too came across this guy from portugal on their list. both times price was really important no breaking the bank for a certain player. this past window newcastle was looking for an attacking mid...again no need to like break their own record you can get attacking mids all over like chelsea they didn't play a ton of money(way overpaid) for a certain attacking mid from the us they just found one on their list and were just kind of hey lets get a list and randomly go with someone or something like that.

.jordan morris is now the savior...can't wait. honduras locked down pulisic because thats his ceiling but jordan morris not a problem he was good.

everyone played poorly against hon including morris you can't pick a single game/moment let alone one players best and anothers worse to say hey he outplayed him.

but if you want I'll chalk you up for the jmorris savior pool.

You’re literally giving examples of Mbappe a 19 year once in a generation player and Ronaldo a generational talent. There’s literally nothing coming out of the MLS close to that but I’ll bite. Both those players will make their fees back for them. PSG has their countries best player. Juve bought Ronaldo to get their UCL trophy and he came up spades for them. Chelsea bought a player they felt could be a replacement for Hazard but also needed to spend right then and there and ultimately overspent because of their looming transfer ban.

Teams will spend when they think they need to but they also won’t spend just spend. If they don’t think the valuation is correct and they feel they can get an equal level player, even if not first option, for less they will. There’s far far more examples of this in every window.

Naw I don’t block people. Even if they make stupid arguments. Can’t block people in the real world don’t see why I should do it on the internet. Just more opportunity to practice patience and ignore them. Every once in a while I’ll bite tho.

    disagree blocking is good

what a fool he is I mean the idea that teams target players is crazy talk. they come up with big groups and just kind of randomly select from the group. barca didn't focus on de jong they just ended up with him because he fit in their little budget.

Teams do target players but you’re fooling yourself if you think money doesn’t play a role in it. Look at the Griezmann to Barca rumors that’s re-floated. He wants to go there. They wanted him just this past summer. They now don’t want to spend the money on him because his wages and the fee will be too high and that’s with him willing to take a wage cut.

I have him blocked. But curiosity killed this cat.

Wondo scored lots of goals in MLS yesteryear (not that long ago but it's a league that's rapidly improving), he didn't translate it to the national team when it counted unlike Morris as of recent, and his ancillary work was almost non-existent due to lack of mobility whereas it's more what Jordan has been known for. If he scores too he's really putting in a shift, like Novakovich or Sapong.
