Edgar Duran won't be joining his brother Ruben at Cal Poly? I don't think I've been this disappointed since Duran Duran broke up.

Well, barring a transfer or someone just quitting they have: *Spencer LaCivita, a two-year starter as a freshman and sophomore who sat out 2013 recovering from surgery. He'll be a redshirt junior. *Jeff Gal, who was a Freshman All America at Creighton in 2012 then transferred to Virginia to take LaCivita's spot, which he filled most of the season till getting benched for the last two regular season games and all of the playoffs. He'll be a redshirt junior and can't transfer to another (D-I) school without sitting out another year. *Calle Brown, who after not playing a minute for almost his first four seasons in Charlottesville became the starter for the final 2 regular season games and the run to the ACC Tournament final and the Final Four. He will be a redshirt senior next fall if he chooses to use a fifth year. I have no idea if he'll graduate this spring but if he does he could play elsewhere as a grad student. *Jeff Caldwell, a US YNT player who is ranked the top GK in this year's HS class. He will, obviously, be a true freshman this year. They also have Cole Moffatt, who did not play as a true freshman last year, and Andrew Freschi, a walk-on who has yet to play his first two seasons. I doubt either of them factor into the equation. I have no idea how it will all play out. However, I'd be surprised if they're all on the roster this fall.
New revolutionary system: stronger than the "inverted pyramid". They are going to play 5-4-1-1. The catenacio will look like something immensely naive in comparison. Might need some change of the rules, anyway....
Coach's decision. He had an up-and-down season but UVa went on an 11-game unbeaten run so they didn't want to mess with GK during that streak. Then they lost to UNC 1-0 so they decided to try a change. Brown got a shutout in his first game so he got another start and it snowballed. I don't know this for certain but I don't think when he first sat Gal that Gelnovatch thought Brown would start for the rest of the year. It just worked out that way.

Hopefully he has time to continue his ranking system that is so preferred by our west coast college soccer fans.
