Yes,but now AEK seems to finally finds their redemption, now that Melisanidis took over.He has plans for a 20mil. euro investment for a new stadium and they already started to build a roster that could easily win 2 promotions in a row.So if everything go as planned Aek should be back at Superleague after 2 years.

There are too many problems in Greek soccer and AEK is the ultimate testament to that fact. We are somewhere between Scotland and Croatia in terms of league quality, but we used to be on the level of France and Portugal prior to Euro 2004. The league is in financial ruin and won't recover for several years to come. To compound matters, big money is infiltrating soccer, which makes it impossible for even wealthy Greek owners to compete. Our market, as passionate as any, is too small to compete with the bigger countries. Our teams can boast of a million supporters at best, while Brazilian clubs can boast of 25 million (that may be more flattering than true, but there's a great divide no less). The Geovannis are no longer heading to Greece, they are either staying put in Brazil or taking big money moves to countries like China and Ukraine. I strongly doubt we'll ever see a player like Ronaldinho head to Greece, even though such a move has long been discussed.

We can hope for the best.

Truth be told, Ronaldinho is well past his best, and such rumors still persist only because PAOK's management has to bamboozle their supporters and make believe a great new dawn in the Savvidis' era. But for Greece to get back up onto its feet, it must look within.
