Far out I'm loving this generation so far. Nakajima oh my goodness. Not since early Kagawa have I been so stoked to see a player in the JNT.
I jinxed it I think. I still have warm feelings from Inui's Russia performance maybe he'll bring the magic back.
The loan in Stuttgart ruined him: he played a lot, but not as a forward, which should be his main job.
Had a great pre season , scored like 7,8 goals? Got every opportunity to make an impact in Bundesliga but has not. Far from it. Unfortunately.
Let's see, Japan will face a very physical team woth lethal strikers, a technical team with speedy forwards, and somewhat physical but agile team. Good tests for Moriyasu's "tactics". I wonder if Japan will participate with its A team.
- moriyasu needs to stop looking like a clueless clown on the sideline. - have a plan b. have a plan c as well. - actually give his substitutions time to make a difference in a game (bringing on inui with five minutes left? are you serious?) - sasaki, makino gtfo. calling up a clearly unfit aoyama was a mistake. no more sanfrecce. - osako debuted for the jnt more than five years ago. we still haven’t found a replacement or anyone close to his ability to hold the ball up. osako out and this team is screwed.
Recover our full team will be a great start. Nakajima can transfigure JNT but I'm concerned about his development now that he plays in Qatar League. Shoji, Oshima, Morita, Y. Suzuki... will return. Kagawa maybe ? Don't think the door is closed. Inui was out of form during AC, hope he'll get some playing time in his new club. Contrary to Shibasaki... Nakamura (GK), Kamada and even Yuki Kobayashi deserve at least one chance. And be attentive to some good prospects like Nakayama and Itakura. To sum-up, build the best team we can, and the rest will follow. At least, we can do better than yesterday, I firmly believe that.
I'll wait until Copa America before passing any judgement. With a somewhat crippled team plus luck, Japan managed to get to the final and we were this close to winning it but I guess it just wasn't our day. I'd imagine things would've been much better if we hadn't had so many injured and absent players. I just hope Moriyasu and team learn from this tournament and focus on WCQ and please stop the favoritism toward Sanfrecce players. I also hope they try Schmidt as the new starting GK. Gonda is not as reliable and it showed yesterday.
my biggest fear is moriyasu just relying on the pure skill and ability of the players and neglecting any tactics. never in the history of japanese football has there been so many european based players to pick from. many of the current players and pundits keep claiming moriyasu “is a nice down to earth guy, easy to work with” blah blah. but rarely do they praise him as a tactician.
Welp! That doesn't sound good. I'm still of giving him another chance but this bit of him scares me. He also looked clueless when JNT u-23 got hammered 4-0 to UZB in the u-23 Asian Championship last year.
03/22 Friendly vs Colombia seems the only match before Copa America. Let's hope JFA find some decent opponent for the other march international matchday and some sparring partner latin club for early june.
One more problem: I hope Moriyasu and the jfa don't mind the olympics 2020 too much and show favoritism against the players who are eligible next year For example: there's no way in hell Doan keeps being a starter in jnt with this kind of performance if not for his young age They should keep the priority straight: senior team is senior team, u23 team is u23 team, don't make your senior team as a FM fantasy garden to groom young players
Losing a final hurts but there is still reason to be optimistic. When that bicycle kick went in you just got the feeling that it wasn’t going to be Japan’s day. Credit to Qatar, they deserved this win on the day, but I think if we played them 10 times we’d win the majority of the games for sure. In other words the loss was a bit flukey, given the low probability goals that they scored. We were dominating in the second half until the unlucky penalty. I’d stay the course for now. Even Yoshida was pretty good in the tournament until tonight. They were very solid defensively and that wasn’t all Tomiyasu.
Hasebe was beast today against Dortmund. Maybe he channels his anger from apathic display by Samurai Blue and Gaku in particular in todays match. Moriyasu should've watch Bundesliga match more, as there are many tactical reference that suits our player skillset. Frankfurt's would be ideal i think. Our World Cup team played very much like Frankfurt anyway, with less intensity of course. This year Frankfurt supposedly change their approach as they appoint Hutter, Rangnick disciple himself, but, He thought, Hasebe is a focal point of this Frankfurt side, so he arranged Frankfurt team to accomodate Hasebe's expertise as a libero and tinkering the team so that he can implement his idea as well.
