Well Another season of mediocrity officially bites the dust. Time to think about the future Let's see what kind of "good decisions" get made going forward. Here are the Players that absolutely have to go,... David Bingham Michael Ciani Giovani dos Santos Perry Kitchen João Pedro Jorgen Skjelvik and since they haven't even sniffed the pitch in a real game that mattered Brian Sylvestre and Justin Vom Steeg Here are the ones that will likely leave on their own,... Ashley Cole Players who might stay if they get a raise or a loan,... Zlatan Ibrahimovic Guys I would be happy to see in 2019 Romain Alessandrini Emmanuel Boateng Jonathan dos Santos Ola Kamara Sebastian Lletget Chris Pontius Dave Romney Daniel Steres Sheanon Williams Guys that can be used for Trade Bait for other players from elsewhere Ariel Lassiter Bradford Jamieson IV Baggio Husidic Tomas Hilliard-Arce Rolf Feltscher Servando Carrasco Hugo Arellano Plus anybody from the absolutely have to go list can also all be included and they can make up the Unprotected Player List for the Expansion Draft as well as far as I'm concerned. We also have the 2019 SuperDraft to look forward to on January 11. We got the last pick in the first and 2nd rounds but we get 2 in the third and fourth; so the question is what college defenders actually look good enough to maybe trade up to get a shot at? Also who are free agents from around the league that will be available?
Uncle Phil: So LAA what should we do this off season? LAA: sack everyone. Uncle Phil: The players or … LAA:
Subscribed to keep up on all of the non-existent changes to the front office and scouting department.
It’ll be interesting which players we protect in the expansion draft. I’m going on the assumption that Gio has a no trade clause and we’ll have to protect him. Kitchen is from that area (kind of), perhaps FCC will pick him up in the draft. I wouldn’t be apposed to sweeten their interest in him by offering them our 1st round pick or maybe THA if they agree to draft him.
Cincinnati would be crazy not to grab Kitchen if he is available which I expect him to be. We need to sort out our head coach job asap because who we protect or resign greatly depends on who is in charge. I would like to see us continue with Dom. I think the team really likes him, and Dom did help sort out our defense. If we can give Dom a couple more center backs, I think we are in a good spot for next season.
What I'll do for the Expansion Draft : - Don't need to be protected : Alvarez, BJ4, Arellano (HGP), THA (GA). - Protect without a doubt (7) : Zlatan, Ola, Alessandrini, Jona, Lletget, Boateng, Romney. - Guy we unfortunately have to protect because of a non-trade clause (1) : Gio. I would aslo protect Steres and Pontius, two veterans who are OK for depth. Final spot should be between Feltscher (not a high risk to lose him because of the international tag, not a big loss if so) and Bingham (GK is not an easy situation, if we lose him we have to find a new keeper, which could not be bad but we could also end with a worse player than Bingham). If Cincinnati really wants Kitchen, it could be interesting to trade him in a "make a good offer or we protect him" type of deal, a little bit similar of what we did at the end of 2011 with the Ricketts to Montreal trade.
Curious why, Cincy be “crazy” not to grab Kitchen? The trend in the last two expansion drafts has been for teams to get inexpensive, upside guys. not so much trying to build a starting core from the draft.
Kitchen is only 26, and out of favor with our team. We don't really play with a true DM which is what Kitchen is. Kitchen obviously did himself no justice with this season, but I still think he is a good pick up. Getting a DM of Kitchen's quality for free is a no brainer imo.

You beat me to posting this article. How the hell can Klein now talk about looking at club wide culture - he should have done this two years ago! These guys couldn't wait to show Arena and Sarachan the door because they thought they knew better - what a disaster. There is no structure, there is no plan, that is Klein's fault! We need a total house cleaning. So frustrating.
That level of incompetency in leadership would get you fired as a manager at a local Kroger, much more so should it get you fired as a President of a professional sports team.
Incompetentcy in senior management seldom results in the firing of the senior manager. If the organization is lucky, they get promoted to a window position, retire or take a new position elsewhere. So if Chris leaves to focus on his MLS players retirement investment business then we got lucky.
All he needs to do is read the Fire Chris Klien thread. I didn't see anything in that article that wasn't posted on this board by fans. Bruce not wanting Steve and Gio ✔ Failure to prepare for injuries ✔ No clear organizational structure ✔ Shifting team development strategies that change in the breeze ✔ A lack of institutional loyalty ✔ Failure to build the infrastructure necessary to succeed in the current MLS ✔ And most damning of all, which was attributed to Dan Beckerman was moving away from the Tim Liewickie focus on winning ✔.
An outgoing CEO welcomed their replacement saying “You will encounter difficult times, when you do I have left you three envelopes. Open one when you do”. A short while later profits were down and shareholders were angry. The new CEO went back to his office and opened the first envelope, it said “Blame your predecessor”. The CEO holds a press conference announces this is all the fault of the old regime and things return to normal. Some time after that the business begins to struggle again. The CEO opens the second envelope. “Announce you are planning to enact a cost-cutting restructure”. The CEO holds a press conference announcing their plan to cut costs and restructure the business. The shareholders are mollified and life goes on. The company falls again, shareholders complaining. The CEO opens the third envelope on it was written “Prepare three envelopes” Chris should be preparing three envelopes.
Apparently Bruce has interviewed for the GM position. I mean he couldn’t do worse than Pete/Jovan, but it does feel a bit like Klein doesn’t know anything beyond what he knows. He knew Onalfo, he knew Sigi, he knew Bruce. Even the slightly less credible Dunivant rumors are all part of his small world of soccer.
Good article: https://sports.yahoo.com/mcintyres-23-thoughts-bruce-arena-back-galaxy-002412610.html Seems to imply anshulz is actually involved. Surprises me. Can’t say I’m thrilled with Klein potentially getting to stay on. Someone needs to pay the price.
