    Japan should keep training hard fast passes and pass to imaginary players right inside of the posts instead of shooting.

    The commentator on US Soccer brought up the 50-player pool for Japan. Seriously, I think Takakura should consider trimming that number down to 28 very shortly after today.

    That's what Herb Brooks did to build up the ice hockey squad that would eventually beat the Soviet machine in Lake Placid (1980).

    No luck, really.

    That foul by Houghton did indeed deserve yellow, but we didn't manage to make nothing of FK and subsequent CK. :(

    I was mentioning about good habits earlier. One good habit Nadeshiko need to learn and apply is to start matches with "the knife between the teeth".

    Ok, FT. We lose 3-0.

    I guess in this half we'd have deserved a goal. Ok, a better perfromance anyway, although of course England was ok this way.

    Well, I am anyway quite satisfied: coming into this tournament with that kind of experimental team I was expecting a kind of repeat of Tournament of Nations of last year; losing games, but making experience for the tournament that really counts.

    Actually with a draw vs USA (although in injury time) and a win vs Brazil we did quite well and better than I expected.

    Now I am very curious about Takakura's selections for the friendly matches vs Germany and France. :coffee:

    Minami was so disappointing. Not just that big mistake but overall really poor. Especially with the ball. No care with her passes and often her passes are too slow.

    She’s definitely not ready yet. She will be our future central defender though and possibly the captain.

    FT 3-0 England.....through gritted teeth I have to say they are well deserved winners of the tournament
    2nd half 0-0.... why oh why couldn't we at least have done the same in 1st half.
    A positive for me is another assured performance from Sugita.

    Poor roster decisions let to that result. It's one thing to have one good second half, but it's worth nothing if 1) we don't start matches on the stronger foot, and 2) we don't have players capable of finishing their chances.

    Time to solidify the back 4. Also I'm done with experiments involving a 50-player pool. It's time to trim that number down to 28 or less.

    Longtime problem.

    Yokoyama is clearly out of fitness: let's hope she will peak when it counts, as she did at Asian Cup last year.

    We only played better in the second half because England just sat back being 3-0. Without pressure, we know our girls can play beautiful football (without finish of course :)
