Sweet that he's already scored two goals. Can't wait to see him and all the guys in person on Sunday.
📋😈 Comunicado oficial, Jeffrey Payeras. ¡Bienvenido @Bigbirrrrd! pic.twitter.com/pd9RHQJur4— CSD Municipal (@Rojos_Municipal) February 17, 2018 Jefrey Payeras back to Municipal. He didn't convince the coaching staff during the preseason. I'm a little bit disappointed, I thought he could be solid depth.
True, but Donovan coming to LA in 2005 was a HUGE deal in MLS circles. Just as Zlatan coming to the Galaxy in 2005 would have been a HUGE deal worldwide. In 2018? Not so much.
#LAGalaxy forward's season -- and career -- may be hanging in the balance https://t.co/jf5nghklBq— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) February 17, 2018 Another head injury for Bradford... Terrible news.
I agree that this is terrible news for everyone. Thanks for posting as not all of Baxter's posts make the Times.
Municipal still doesn't know how to spell his first name. Last season, every game's starting eleven team sheet had his named misspelled with two F's.
It is terrible. Given his G2 history also predictable. He needs to look past a soccer career if he doesn't want to end up with debilitating brain damage.
It is terrible. I read Baxters article and two points were troubling. If I read correctly his 2015 concussion was not his first but third? And the quote from his mom/agent made me wonder if there were times in his youth career where he played through undiagnosed head trauma. For all of the awareness out there now as compared to 10 years ago, I still think organized soccer or football just don't take concussions serious enough.
I did too, but it's probably better for him to play at Municipal if we're not going to use him. So centerback depth chart is: Skjelvik Steres Ciani Romney Hilliard-Arce Arrellano Which isn't as much depth as it seems as Skjelvik could move to left back and Ciani will be gone. 2019 could be Hilliard-Arce Steres Romney Arrellano Which is getting a little thin.
More than worrying. At best, she doesn't understand the risks that he would run from additional head trauma. At worst... I don't even want to go there.
It's possible Mom just wants to preserve his privacy, especially if he hasn't received an official diagnosis of concussion and, given his history and the current environment, that label could make him untouchable later on even if it turns out to be something else. She could be fully in support of holding him out. Nevertheless, if she's upset that team won't let him play when the medical experts advise against it, it starts to sound like the worst kind of stage mom scenario.
The latest tweet from BJ's Mom doesn't exactly defuse the situation Danica ✨ @mamirocs Replying to @kbaxter11 Kevin, you opportunistic hack. A question is not a conversation & it’s qwhite disappointing, but expected to get such lazy journalism. You have no details, simply random musings. Semantics are everything, & you’re being irresponsible. Full stop
I know what you're saying, but good teams should be worrying precisely about that. Our offseason was exceptional in the amount they got done, but the winter window right before the start of the season doesn't allow much flexibility or time for planning. The summer window is when the market is the biggest and the 2018 window is really about getting players for 2019. I've always thought we should try to leave roster space to pick up one player each summer window, and this year, a defender might be what we want to shop for.
Looks like Jack McInerney has signed with @IndyEleven. Yes, it's a drop in level, but he needs games, something he hasn't gotten enough of in recent seasons.— Jeff Carlisle (@JeffreyCarlisle) February 19, 2018 McInerney in the USL.
I don't know how many years he had remaining on his contract when he was cut by Portland. He may still be getting paid by MLS if last year wasn't his last year.
What a fall for a one time promising American striker. See? They don’t just fizzle out in Europe. MLS can expose you too.
McInerney's definitely a case where he's not versatile enough to operate at anything other than a pure poacher in a two striker formation. Two striker formations aren't en-vogue in MLS currently so his effectiveness suffered. Plus, it's tough for American strikers to compete with DPs and TAM players which are heavily concentrated in the attacking roles. I hope he's able to re-establish himself in the USL and develop some more versatility.
Having him in the USL is good. He can focus on playing regularly. Having that talent in usl adds to the league. Last seasons open cup was fun. This season should be good too
I thought Lopez had a better year than Vom Steeg last year with G2, but both are highly rated (and Lopez is younger) so I'm not concerned. Glad to have two solid prospects at this position.
