Miyazawa wasn't managing to figure Sameshima, so this time it was Hasegawa moving on the Right-Side and producing that cross that Miyazawa had never managed to make in the rest of the game: perfect ball for Mina Tanaka and header-goal.

1-0 for Beleza at 85': most probably that's it, since Beleza was already prevailing in these last minutes. :coffee:

Lee Min-A in, Miki Ito out at 87'.

I would have liked to see the Korean player on the pitch earlier than that, and not just as a desperation move! :devilish:

    Also, Ushijima in, Sameshima out.

Masuya wastes what was probably the last decent chance.

After that, Rikako Kobayashi in for Beleza, Rik(c)o Ueki out.

    Then Sumida in, Miyazawa out.

INAC don't even manage to retain possession in these last minutes: and the final whistle comes!

Beleza are Nadeshiko League Cup Champions: they deserved! :notworthy:

FT.... Beleza 1 INAC 0...fair enough... Beleza seemed to want it more than INAC

I wonder if this result will be any indication for the league, or if it will influence it.

Anyway, now I'll go to have lunch: see you later, guys.

Menina leads 2-0 after 12 minutes with looks for a half a dozen more goals... My view of americans giving them a challange was a bit premature. Rosengard and Bayer at least played tight defense...Norcal seem to be counting for goal from an open play, all while their only tactic is to do it by winning one on one speed duel. o_O

Norcal Premier 0 - 2 Tokyo Verdy HT

Turkey shooting as it very well could've been 6 or 7 for Menina. No challange for japanese players at all. Big lesson of football for all other women teams in that age category.;)

A very entertaining match. The Americans tried to press Menina higher and higher as the game went on but Menina's superior passing meant they could calmly escape every time. They should have scored at least 5, but in the end 3 was enough.

Good news for Nadeshiko league from yesterday. They just sign an agreement with Liga Iberdrola to encourage women's football in both countries. Here are the most important points:

-Strenghten the exchange of information between both leagues.
    -Make training courses for coaches.
-Promote values such as gender equality or integration of girls/women into society through sports.
-Helping woman to access sport management.
    -Make friendly games.

Some japanese playing in Spain, such as Yamane, Yamamoto, Tanaka, Goto and Chiba were at the event. And our senior NT coach Asako Takakura as well.

Yes, I count on Iga FC Kunoichi being back soon in Division 1!

These are great news! Thank you for that, @KAPIJXM! :notworthy:

The history of the past has tought to us that the more international experience Japanese players gather the more competitive our National Teams become!!! :)

    NWSL update:

    - Utah Royals-North Carolina Courage 0-0. Yuri Kawamura actually saw the pitch: she was subbed in at 82'. Probably preparing her to get some more playing-time when a lot of players will be missing for Tournament of Nations (yes, NWSL won't stop during that tournament).
    Highlights:

    - Orlando Pride-Seattle Reign 1-1. Reign held up what could have been a very dangerous assault to their second place in the league and retain it. Utsugi started but she was subbed out at 26'. If you look at the whole scene of the substitution in the full-match video (starting at about 44'), you can see that Rumi's substitution was actually a consequence of an injury that Bev Yanez suffered: when Yanez was subbed-out, the coach decided to take out Utsugi also, maybe to balance the midfield in a different way as a consquence of missing Yanez, maybe because he didn't want to keep playing with another questionable player on the pitch, since Rumi was anyway back from an injury herself. From the footage, it doesn't look like this injury actually had a relapse, but anyway, when Rumi gets back on the bench, you can see her unroll her sock to show a bandage on her left calf, where she had recently suffered a strain. Let's hope she will be ok for ToN. Naho Kawasumi started, played until 79', and had the assist for Seattle's goal (a cross in the box for Taylor): good job, Naho!

Hi guys. I haven't been following the Nadeshiko League lately but I just watched the cup final and I have to say this was by far the worst performance I've ever seen from an INAC side. There was so much wrong with this team that I can hardly list it all, but I'll give it a shot anyway:
    • INAC sat deep and invited pressure, but never tried to hit Beleza on the break. They were playing as if they were defending a 1-0 lead since the first minute.
    • There was no communication between Takenaka and the defenders. Like, none at all.
    • No one felt responsible for picking up Hasegawa, Beleza's most dangerous player. She always found space between the lines or out wide. On at least one occasion Masuya got visibly frustrated with her team-mates when she gestured the central midfielders to close down Hasegawa who shortly afterwards was able to receive a pass under no pressure at all.
    • On the few occasions when INAC did try to press, it was always just with the two forwards, or occasionally one additional midfielder. Beleza's backline and midfield had no problems at all playing around these isolated players and exploiting the space behind them.
    • Whenever INAC won possession in midfield, Beleza immediately pressed with all their players in unison, and the INAC player on the ball (except Masuya on several occasions) was forced to make a back pass to a defender or lose possession.
    • INAC's defenders were unable to do anything with the ball other than hoof it upfield, which immediately lost possession 9 out of 10 times (no, this isn't an exaggeration). This is a stark contrast to the Beleza defenders who were almost always able to pass the ball on the ground thanks to INAC's lack of coordinated pressing.
    • Takenaka was even worse; her distribution lead to immediate loss of possession 10 out of 10 times (usually a Beleza throw-in not even as far away as the half-way line). She's also a poor goalkeeper in general.
    • When INAC did manage to string more than a couple passes together in Beleza's half, their passing was slow and predictable and off-the-ball movement was almost nonexistent.
This is so different from the INAC I know. Do they always play like this now? Does any team other than Beleza currently play free-flowing, positive football?

(On an entirely unrelated note: Kodama Keiko has recently signed for Borussia Mönchengladbach who will play in the Bundesliga this season after just having been promoted; not sure if this is already known here.)
