Can we go get AJ now that we got enough money to pay him? Can we still get Kofi back as well? Somebody make this happen!!
Is there any news, rumors about what is happening with JVD? Last I heard was that we would release him only if we could find a replacement during the transfer window. I don't know if that story was true but if it was I guess he is staying with us?
We still have time if we plan on getting anything done. We can have time before the roster freeze to bring in a free agent or make a trade within the league. The European tranfer window is still open so we also have a bit of time to sell if we want.
400k in GAM/TAM, Van Damme, Cole and Jones leaving (that's more than 1,500k of salary), all our picks in the first three rounds of the SuperDraft (maybe we'll lost the second round pick to Colorado, part of the JJ deal), and currently the fifth pick in all the MLS Drafts, an Expansion Draft where our biggest loss could be Husidic or Steres, and a new coach who has a reputation of building teams from nothing... It's gonna be an exciting offseason. Can we skip the end of 2017?
The MLS website says teams cannot make intra-league player trades outside the MLS transfer windows. Sounds to me that the only players we can add to our team now are free agents who are not currently playing in any league. https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017...know-about-2017-mls-secondary-transfer-window
I hope you are right but replacing Cole and Van Damme with better versions won't be that easy. The extra 400k TAM, getting rid of Jones, and a competent coach and player evaluator are definitely positives though. I would expect us to be playoff contenders next season but I just wonder if LA will ever be great again as long as Gio has one of our DP spots locked up. He is right in the middle of the park and gets involved with most of our offensive plays - if he doesn't play well it's hard to play around him.
#LAGalaxy still talking to Frenchman Michael Ciani, 33. Ciani wants a contract thru 2018; team offering deal that ends this season (1/2)— Kevin Baxter 🇺🇦🏳️🌈 (@kbaxter11) August 10, 2017 I can see us meeting in the middle and having a contract till the end of the season with an option for next
So we may play with a unhappy Van Damme. Doesn't sound good but I'm glad we don't offer a guaranteed contract for 2018 to Ciani.
Not easy but far from impossible. Van Damme agressiveness will always make him miss a lot of games (and will cost us points too), and Cole hasn't been that good. For almost 1 million per year there's at least a half dozen of defenders pairing in MLS who is better than them. We can definitely do better in term of talent, maybe not in term of leadership. I agree on Gio, he's mediocre in the 10 role. My hope is we can convert him to a pure striker, his finishing abilities are clearly elite in the MLS but it's not a spot he has played most of his career, and it could mean benching Zardes. I hope Sigi will try him in the number 9 role before the end of the season.
Does this mean we put in a transfer request on him before the deadline? And now it's just a matter of whether we can come to terms with him?
You appear to have a picture of Hollywood Heartthrob Viggo Mortensen as your avatar and he seems to be about to put something to his lips. Psychological symbolism, perhaps? Just something to think about.
2018 season seats have increased in price again. I think its up $24 per seat for me. http://since96.lagalaxy.com/home.html#Section_3_Box_3_heading
I "like" how they try to make it seem like you need to renew your season seats for the 2018 season before you can have access to tickets for any potential games in the 2017 playoffs. Isn't one of the "perks" of having 2017 season tickets that you get access to your seats for playoff games in 2017? Its probably a moot point anyway though at this point. Our chances of making the post season are depressing at best.
I think he meant up $24 per seat per season (so over 17 games a little over a $1 a game.) Not too bad. My seats in 230 seem similarly increased. If my math is right they are now something like $16.50 per game per seat. (EDIT - my bad, they are actually $15 per game when you consider the two bonus crap games) I'm worth it! (or maybe I hate myself given how joyless the experience has been this year)
