Lol, this reminds me of glorious days or Dream-Ear, River-Dance Kyo, Photon and Go-to-Unknown! (Only die-hard fans of this thread know what I am talking about ).
US seems to have two teams in this competition, U18 and U19. Yesterday's team was U18 and U19 team will play in the next two games.
Today's result: Inac (Kyokawa) 1-0 Beleza Mynavi (Yasumoto 2) 2-1 Iga (Fukumaru) Jef (Chino) 1-0 Nojima Urawa (Sugasawa, Kira, Kizaki) 3-0 Albi Nadeshiko League 2 Nippatsu 0-1 Setagaya (Nagasaki) Ehime (Ueno, Ohya) 2-1 Kibi (Ikejiri) Belle (Shimamura, Kameoka) 2-1 Konomiya (Taniguchi) Challenge League East NORD (Fujie) 1-2 Jumonji (Kobayashi, Segi) Niigata (Miura, Miyashita) 2-1 Yamato (Hori) Challenge League West JFA (Tomioka, Yosue) 2-1 Ange Violet (OG) Shizuoka 0-0 Nagoya
Wow, this can really be a season changer! Half-way through the league, the fight for the title has officially re-opened again! And, talking about River-Dance Kyo, this is probably one of the most important goals of her career and I'd say she was deserving that. These days quite everyone can have their way with Konomiya, but this win is anyway important for Belle. They couldn't have afforded any kind of different result. Impressing that, a year ago, this was a Division 1 clash and now it's a match to avoid relegation in Challenge League...
This match was really intense and both teams gave their all to win it. Tactically it was a joy to watch it. The defenders on both sides did a great job to close all the gaps and the midfielders worked very hard. But as a result the forwards couldn't create many opportunities. And at the end it was a penalty kick that decided the match. Hina Sugita had a great game. She played as a winger and her opponent was Yui Hasegawa. But she was able to keep that side very well and also played some good passes. And i don't need to tell how good she is on the ball. But there is one more player i want to mention: Yui Fukuta Despite being so young she started to play as a cm for Inac some weeks ago. And today she played again, but this time against Beleza. And she played well. She is dynamic, very calm on the ball and can play quality passes. And on top of that she reads the game very well. I just hope she doesn't get injured, because she seems to be a starter now.
The Frauen-Bundesliga update will be very short today, since neither of our Japanese players was on the pitch, not even as a sub. Respective coaches don't seem to highly value (anymore?) Ando's and Nagasato's contribution, although it's not like the clubs are winning without them... - Bayern München-SGS Essen 2-0 - SC Sand-1.FFC Frankfurt 1-0 Frankfurt and Essen depressingly sit at 5th and 6th place of the rankings. Uninspiring season for both.
NWSL update: uninspiring week for our Japanese players in USA also, as North Carolina Courage loses an home game vs Chicago Red Stars by 1-3, and Seattle Reign FC is stopped at home by Orlando Pride on 1-1 (goals by Bev and Marta). Both teams anyway keep a good position, currently granting play-offs (NC Courage is 1st placed, Seattle Reign is 4th). By the way, today's friendly match result: U19 Nadeshiko 2-1 U19 US
It is frightening how many talents we have in this age group But how would a possible starting eleven look like? -------------------------------------------Suzuki(?)--------------------------------------- ---------Miyagawa-------Moeka(?)----------Takahashi-------Kitamura ---------(Ushijima)--------------------------------(Takahira)-------(Tomita) ---------Takarada-----Hayashi/Fukuta------Nagano---------Miyazawa -------------------------------------------------------------(Murakami)------------------ ----------------------------------Endo---------------Ueki------------------------- --------------------------------(Matsumoto)----(Kono)------------------------ Did i forget someone
Here is a very, very short article from U.S. Soccer about the May 19 game between Nadeshiko U19 and U.S. U18. It says the Japan controlled the match but (as usual) did not create many chances. The article also mistakenly credits Japan's goal to Honoka Yonei who did not enter the match until the 79th minute based on the JFA match report. It is interesting that U.S. Soccer adds a year to each team. Their article states that it was the U.S. U19 vs. Japan U20. Hopefully, we will see more detailed reports for the other two games and maybe video (fingers crossed).
Yep, i forgot Momoko and Kanno. Both played a great tournament last year and should definitely be in the squad.
