    Re: Copa Libertadores 2010 discussion - part 2 [R]

This is the major reason why most of us are fed up with the mexican participation now mind you, What people say on these forums really doesn't carry any weight. We all poke funs at eachother, go fishing and so forth but when your press comes out on says it than its a different story. There are bad calls everywhere. even in the champions leagues yet in Europe you don't see the English, spanish, dutch, italian especially the smaller nations saying they got screwed because of their nationalities. Such claims are ridiculous at best and are not worth mentioning even in the most ludicrous british tabloid newspaper. Yet the mexicans have made an art out of it.. Yes they are bad calls but until this date. the worst robbery in history happened in a second leg final of the 1990 Copa Libertadores Final.. YES THE SECOND LEG OF A FINAL!!!!! and not in some second round or some quarterfinal crap..Plus where was all the "We got screwed over when Cruz Azul made the final?" and won in the buenos aires?

There was talk before the game against Alianza Lima of Estudiantes wanted to lose because they didn't want to travel to mexico. Its a pain on the ass for our clubs to travel anywhere between 16-20 hours one way to mexico.

Tsk, Estudiantes is quite overconfident lately, watch them having a pitiful draw in Mexico, and then we'll hear Sabella complaining about the referee, that they were FORCED to travel too far, that AFA doesn't help them like other countries help their teams, etc etc.

Most of the clashes looks really interesting, looking up for Banfield-Inter.

Also regarding the transfer and modifications, the clubs can sign players from the country's league only if the national association allows it. Remember that international transfers outside the transfer period were forbidden by FIFA last year. Of course if CONMEBOL did their homework, they wouldn't come with these rules...

Well, they wouldn't be transfers proper, but quick very short term loans.

Not sure what the FIFA position is on that one. CONMEBOL allows it, the national fed has to give its blessing, and that's it. So far, it seems the FIFA pretends nothing happens.

FIFA is okay as soon as they're domestic transfers, note that in the case of Benitez and Sosa last year they were loans until the end of the season, meaning they signed at the time(September-November) until June 30th of this year. Different was the case of Schiavi in last year's Libertadores, but not sure what's the span it'd be allowed, i think that's up the national federations too.

If San Luis wins the first leg I will laugh cause they are at the bottom of the Mexican league

Yeah, but Estudiantes is sending a B team, so it would serve them right if they lose.

It would be more embarrassing for Velez, if they lose to Guadalajara, considering Velez played a B team over the weekend in Argentina's Apertura, so they could have the players rested and ready for the trip to Mexico, while the Chivas lost half their team due to Mexico's early WC preparations.

Must be. Jucilei vs Fabricio. Two young bastards who should play for my club.

Jaja. Estudiantes is sending a B-Team. Okay...to be fair, their A-Team was so bad against River Plate last weekend, that the B-Team only can do better.

Same. I was sneaking peeks at the Lyon-Bayern semi (at work) and it was not good football. Lyon was completely overmatched. Frankly, I don't see them making it out of group in the Libertadores playing like that.

What a mess by the referee with the latest substitutions and Clemente's red card, he was zoned right there.

So yeah Estudiantes won 1-0. At times San Luis looked like they were told yesterday they were playing the Libertadores.

Let's see what kind of team they'll field in the rematch at Quilmes.

Let's all give out a hand to CONMEBOL for giving a bye to the last 16 to a team who had not only no chance to compete but also no apparent interest in the tournament.

dude..San Luis was the last place in the FMF...

the new coach (nacho ambriz=who was Javier Aguirres auxiliar at Atletico) got rid of some key players this season but the team has just been good at all.

Chivas is up 1-0 on the half-time in Guadalajara.

Interesting match so far, both defenses look bad so it could be a match with a lot of goals on the second half, though there's a notable difference in organization, Vélez doesn't know what to do with the ball but Chivas does. Vélez has nobody to blame but themselves.
