The MLS season starts in 12 days, but games that matter start tomorrow, with Houston visiting Guastatoya in Guatemala, and Toronto taking on Independiente in Panama.
CAI 4, TOR 0: TFC ambushed badly in CCL opener Wiebe: Yet again, free space is disappointment in Concacaf Champions League
Houston actually won their CCL match last night, 1-0 ... on a wonder-goal by ... DMB of course. 1098082180889227264 is not a valid tweet id RBNY play away tonight, and SKC host tomorrow.

Unsurprisingly, TOR bounced after a 1-1 draw, but other 4 MLS teams advance. ATL makes an improbable comeback, and SKC wins in Mexico: Atlanta United 4, Herediano 0 Agg: ATL 5:3 Herediano February 28, 2019, 9:59PM EST Dylan Butler Toronto FC 1, CA Independiente 1 Agg: Independiente 5:1 TOR Charles Boehm Feb 26, 2019 Houston Dynamo 2, Guastatoya 1 Agg: HOU 3:1 Guastatoya Dylan Butler Feb 27, 2019 Toluca 0, Sporting Kansas City 2 Agg: SKC 5:0 Toluca Dylan Butler Feb 28, 2019 Next Round: Mar 5-7, Mar 12-14 NYRB vs Santos Laguna HOU vs UANL Independiente vs SKC Monterry vs ATL
First legs for the MLS teams ... did NOT go well. RBNY and Houston lost at home 2-0, SKC and Atlanta lost on the road but SKC 1-2 deficit is a better spot than Atlanta's 0-3.
NYRB (2:6 aggregate) and HOU (0:3 aggregate) unceremoniously bounced from the tournament. NY actually tied the series 2:2 after 9', and kept it that way until 72', but Santos Laguna exploded for 4 goals in the next nine minutes.
Well at least now they can "concentrate on winning MLS Cup." Isn't that what all teams say when they get Joe Public'd out of the CCL?
It's just so frustrating that every year is going to be "the year" but it never is. atlanta wont come back tonight and SKC might not tomorrow
ATL won last night (1-0), but not by enough to advance. SKC only remaining MLS club. Even if they win tonight, I don't see them getting past the next round.
After watching Nemeth's pathetic performance tonight, which cost Independiente their victory, all I can say is that I owe Brad Friedel an apology. "You, Brad, were so right. Nemeth, and others of his ilk such as Lee and Kelyn, are frauds. You saw it when others only saw talented players who could make the difference in big games. But you stuck by the vision of your godlike inner eye, and got rid of the bums. I am so glad they are now the problem a collection of losers like SKC or LAFC. Never again will I question you, Brad Friedel, our Manager For Life!:
SKC lost 5-0 in Monterrey last night. Looks like leg 2 will be Swope Park Rangers versus the Monterrey U23s.... Mexico reigns yet again.
I used to think Vermes was a good coach, and that KC was a good defensive team, but after this game, I have my doubts. Did they watch no film on Monterrey beforehand? KC's approach was just wildly off the mark. The other thing I realized about KC is how thin they are. When their first offensive sub off the bench is Yohan Croizet, you know they have a problem.
Monterrey are also just really good. The best Liga MX teams appear to stillmjust be better than the top MLS teams, and that shouldn't be news to anyone. Mix in some home field magic and the scoreline doesnt end up being a huge surprise.
Surprisingly, Vermes played his second team against Cincy and still came out with a 1:1 draw. Rowe got his second start and went the full 90 for SKC.
