The crest is better than our current but not as good as the centennial one. So improvement there. Black isn't necessary but they're not "horrible". I won't buy one unless in a couple years I find it at a clearance sale. And then I'd only wear it for my cardio workouts.
Umbro = best kits. Addidas = best kits for fat people. Nike = best kits for people who like terrible kits. Under Armour = weird.
However Adidas does Argentina, probably the best primary jersey in the world (clean, classy, iconic, and instantly recognizable) Though to be fair, it would take some real effort to screw up Argentina's Jersey. Agree about the Waldos. I think the best uniform scheme for us has unfortunately already been taken by Paraguay, vertical red and white stripes and blue shorts. The Waldos were similar. Historically I think Costa Rica has done a good job with their red white and blue uniforms.
Actually, the more I look at that thing, if the white kit keeps the same template and just replaces the black with white, it could look really good.
Another view. Red and blue sleeves described as "Fading to black on the back of the shoulders" And the article also said the shorts and socks are also black. Also that this is the road kit. http://www.footyheadlines.com/2016/02/usa-2016-copa-america-centenario-jersey.html?m=1
I hope they go and create a "true" crest as opposed to just taking the past of least resistance with something basic
shocker. another uninspired, painfully bland embarrassment that appears to have come from an elementary school design contest. wouldnt expect anything more from nike. go back to the waldos, except make the numbers navy and the socks red.
At least looks better in this mockup than the initial leak... but I mean... still awful. Our colors aren't black FFS. And I really hate the colors of black red and NAVY BLUE being mixed together. Pretty crappy from an aesthetic standpoint. Will we have the same Whites as right now?
Awful awful awful. They certainly won't be sweeping the country this summer with that thing. Looks cheap and uninspired. I would love it if Jurgen flat out refused to use it. Black jerseys in the summer are a terrible idea and those are beyond ugly. Does anyone know the process of how the jersey design gets initiated and approved under the Nike contract? Does US Soccer say we want a white neon and grey jersey so that no one buys it and no one flipping the TV recognizes that the US is playing? Or does Nike have the right to make whatever they want and the US has to wear it because Nike is paying for sponsorship rights? If there is an approval process, who in US soccer has the final say?
well those of us who are sad about losing the '90s crest can at least comfort ourselves with the fact we have a 1990s-quality USMNT right now.
We're due for new whites, but Nike/USSF likes to release the home and away shirts at different times, so assumedly we'll see this black one for both games against Guatemala, then the white for whichever friendly gets scheduled after that.
