France can do worse than the rooster

The NASL logo was probably the worst American logo of all time (yes, worse than the Clash)

and Team Wellington's (NZ) mascot is just awful

yes. this is a definite byproduct of the creative dryspell that currently infects the soccer logo design community. :)

The green one from '94 was classic. I never knew green was a German color. The '90 ones were pretty sweet - and they won then.

You missed his point. During the WC94 it was "Ernie".

Well I don´t like red one as well. We Germans prefer our old jersey
from 90´s, with our german colours. Red is not german colour
Plus every time we played in red jerseys, we lost the game.
When we played in our old t-shirts, we won.
    So back to 90s jerseys:)

Had my mom (yes, my mom) pick up the 2002 white jersey in Berlin when she vacationed there. I love it. Sharp clean design and very detailed. It has a place of honor next to my WHU shirt bought at Upton Park (not picked up by my mom, thank you very much).

I'll be supporting Germany again this WC as long as they stay away from the MNT. THAT WAS A HAND BALL!!!!

Their current FIFA ranking is 173 (just blow the Dominican Republic and just ahead of Tanzinia).

They, AFAICT, didn't participate in World Cup qualifying for Africa.

    from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seychelles

They have a very cool flag:

As do I. It's American. We don't have to copy the Eruos.

By the way, I know it's Earnie.

favorite all time national team jerseys:

    1. Holland 1974. The Hippie soccer jersey. You look at it and think "pass the bong."

    2. Argentina 1978. It was winter in Buenos Aires, so they wore those long sleeves. Very cool looking, despite the fact that the Argentine regime was torturing and killing its own people just a few blocks away from the stadium where the final was played (horrific, but true).

    3. Nigeria 1994. Very cool Kente cloth pattern. Also looked cool when they did the "dog urinating" goal celebration.

    4. El Salvador 1970. Plain blue shirt that looked like something you bought at Target with the letters ES stamped over the breast.

    5. Croatia 1998. Checkerboards!

    6. East Germany 1974. See #4. Same deal, but with DDR stamped on the right. I guess the smaller the country, the bigger the initials on the jersey.

    7. France 1998. The classic three stripes across the chest, a throwback to the shirt the team wore in the 1980s when Platini led them to the Euro cup. Plus, I like the rooster.

    8. Brazil 1970. The soccer equivalent of Yankee pinstripes.

    9. USA 1954-1986. We never made it to the World Cup all those years because our jerseys were too ugly

(if you must know: Ben Brewster, 1973. If we had played Cruyff's Holland in 74, it might have been in jerseys like this).

    10. USA 2002. Dos-cero. Say no more.

I'd like it more if the stripes were red and the field of stars was blue. Call me conservative.

I actually liked the US 1998 World Cup kits, though they'll always bring back horrible memories.

I loved our 2002 Blue shirt, even though we lost to Poland and Germany in them.

I like the bottom one. I've never liked the big fat red "US", and the overuse of white.

why do we have 3 stars on the current crest?

why are there 8 on the old one?

The number of stars in crests has been absolutely beat to death in other threads. It means absolutely nothing. Just a design element.

Nothing, I mean NOTHING, would be cooler than my avatar
    <-----------
    for our new logo.

And yes, we need a red jersey for the WC06.
