Interesting, but then that begs the questions. Why would the jump to the Starbase be 133? It was already after the mission was completed, it was a new jump later on. Why list it as 133?
You're not wrong. Also, how could they detect a cloaked Klingon ship arriving at a planet while at warp light years away if they could not, at that moment, detect cloaked Klingon ships?
In a highly disappointing season where I complained about nearly everything, this was the most disappointing episode of them all because it's mostly ok. I so love hate-watching this show and now they take even that from me. This is such lazy writing. Couldn't they think of a better reason? Same thing with the sensor - why on the bridge? You have a soccerball-sized object that spins and glows and talks and you put it in the one place certain to be fully crewed. The goal is to put Michael in contact with Kol so she can tell Kol why he is about to die (which is great - very satisfying narratively), but there has to be a better way to get them together. And then you get the biggest example of lazy writing of them all - they totally ignored everything about Pahvo. The tech? Forgotten. The reason the peace aliens called both sides together? Ignored. They served up a story softball and no one swung. That's more lazy writing. There are other ways to be captivating to someone than sex. They could have made the relationship really bizarre and dangerous. At least we now have justification for using the "STD" abbreviation.
When people on the bridge say "mark", they mean a point or comma or something, depending on the context. You don't write "mark" on the computer screen.
I learned something about this show without having to watch it. Astro-mycologist Paul Stamets is based on actual mycologist Paul Stamets. He has a pretty good Ted Talk as well as a recent appearance on Joe Rogan's podcast. From what I can tell, his two and a half hours talking to Rogan is more interesting than the new show, though Discovery does sound worth a hate-watch.
Amazon supposedly has plans to create a Galaxy Quest series. I'm all in favor of Star Trek tv, but we already have a Star Trek show. It's called The Orville.
I hope we get more of a focus on the rest of the cast. Also a few Redshirt deaths might be fun to see.
So now they're in the Mirror Universe. Also, this whole USS Defiant thing, the Defiant disappeared during TOS, are they implying that not only did it go to the Mirror Universe, but it travelled back in time in that universe as well? The episode also confirmed the long running theory about Voq. I thought that was pretty poor writing, yeah we gave you a physical and it showed you were ok, but now this physical proves that you're actually a Klingon. WTF? I'll be honest, I'm surprised they killed the doctor.
The Defiant info revealed in yesterday's DIS episode followed from the ENT episode "In a Mirror, Darkly", which itself was a sequel to the TOS episode "The Tholian Web". According to yesterday's After Trek episode, the doctor may not be 100% dead, or something like that. -G
I remember that episode, which took place in the Enterprise timeline, so now they're saying the Defiant is hopping across different timelines as well as realities.
They kept saying Defiant and I was like "Sisko's Defiant?". Because I stopped watching Enterprise midway through season 2. It was interesting. What a shock that so-and-so bit the dust. I guess fans were correct. Oh and TILLY FTW
The Defiant they referred to first appeared in TOS episode "The Tholian Web", they just used the same sets as the Enterprise for the episode back then.
I think thats from the seen where she is looking into the mirror. Looking into the mirror in a mirror universe... you know...
Captain Killy. The one story line that I hoped they avoid because of its utter stupidity is the one we are getting.
OK, can someone explain to me why the Defiant looks different here? Compare to here, the TOS episode It's like they took parts of the ISS Enterprise from "Mirror, Mirror" and mashed it with the Enterprise-A.
it'd have been more bizarre if it was 1 of the seen, but never speaking crew members like the redhead with the cyber implant on her face for example.
