http://www.sportingkc.com/news/2011/01/sporting-kc-ksmo-tv-announce-2011-tv-deal The team has signed a new deal which includes both SD and HD coverage for non-national TV games. It also includes a 30 minute pregame show and a weekly 30 minute TV show.
Will definitely miss the postgame show. No more post-game talk with Kerry. But, I'm sure there will be some more stuff on Sunday. Anyone know if its going to be taped or live? Love the idea of a 30 minute show just for soccer in KC. Even if it is 9:30 pm on a Sunday. I'm thinking maybe more interviews?
i rarely watch pre or post glad the weekly show is back.. if you bloggers werent so ugly they might have you on
I'm working on getting sexy back I will not entirely miss watching the Kerry Z post game interview. Arms locked behind his back and standing to attention like a military man, he was the driest set of cliched responses to questions I have seen. 30 minutes of post game is too much - no matter who is playing and where.
A man's reach should exceed his grasp... I'd rather have a weekly than a post game. As mentioned the rehash wasn't colorful to start, it's painful in bad results, and frivilous after good results. All of them were devoid of perspective that comes with some time.
Glad to see games are going to be available to all folks with TVs (like last year.), but "Both KSMO and KCTV5 have shown a great commitment to sports in Kansas City..." Let's call a spade a spade... their recent "commitment" to sports was adding a sportscaster when they had none and showing preseason pointy ball games?
From the press release: "KSMO-TV, operating since 1983, is shown on satellite television and broadcast over-the-air on Channel 62, and is available as Channel 10 on cable systems. The MyNetwork-TV affiliate is the home to University of Kansas and UMKC men’s and women’s basketball in Kansas City, as well as men’s basketball for the Missouri Valley conference. The station also carries football and basketball for the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association... ... In April 2010, the local CBS affiliate introduced Off the Bench with Michael Coleman, a weekly half-hour sports show on Sundays at 10:30 p.m. CT on KCTV5, which has regularly featured soccer and Sporting Kansas City coverage..."
Those eyes man. He was intimidating sometimes. He'd just stare STRAIGHT at the camera with this intense glare, even when no one was talking directly to him and he wasn't talking at all.
What I'm curious if we'd still get bumped in the case of a re-scheduling. I'm going to assume yes, but I can still hope, right? I do not get Metro Sports, so I'd prefer that the games be on KSMO. Not only does KSMO provide better coverage, but in the case of away games (or games I can't somehow make), I can actually be able to watch it one way or another.
*BUMP* Just went to setup the DVR to record the Chivas match, and I noticed that channel 62 on DirecTV is only available in Standard Definition. Is this just DirecTV or are other people getting left out too?
Jesus -- I can't believe I am this close to going to LA for that game. Its like a dawning realization of AWESOME. I'll check mine out for you in a bit.
link According to this, only people on Surewest (read: me) will be subject to SD - though I believe that it's available OTA in HD, but I'll have to get myself an HD attenna now.. or possibly do Matchday Live, but I do get annoyed at the opposing announcers. If you're a Surewest customer (or want to try and masquerade as one), I encourage you to send them an email about it like I just did. Oh well - I'm paying less on Surewest than when I was on TWC for almost all the channels I want (basically just KSMO in HD, though there might be others I don't realize I miss) and 25/5 internet (pretty damn fast, particularly up) so I won't complain.
Get a $10 antenna from the big box store of your choice, and you can watch KSMO in HD. Seriously. Ten bucks. Do it!
I will, but that means installing the extra capture card back in my HTPC and setting it up for WMC, not to mention actually going out and buying the damn thing. I'm lazy.. I'd rather they just have the HD channel already.
