Sorry about being a broken record about it. I just want to see Italy with stadiums that at least come near what is seen in England at some point.
Relax. I gave you a bit of a hard time yesterday just because. You can do what you want, or rationalize it how you want to. I don't really care as much as you might think. I lived in Milan for several years, part of my work took me there. Things aren't nearly as bad (then) as people make out. In fact, what I enjoyed was how they generally took time to enjoy life rather than work finger to bone as much as we do here. Yeah, grass is always greener on the other side. I have cousins in the South too. Life is always a tragedy to them... You know... Mostly cuz they're bored. Everytime I go visit they hardly age, despite smoking like chimneys and drinking whenever they feel. Oh yeah, cuz they hardly work. Zio's "injury pension" pays for three families to live rather confortably. No stress does magical things for you. However, every time 'l'Americano' comes, life must be so much better for me. Don't get conned so easily
Let’s keep this thread about stadiums fellas There are many other threads where you can discuss Italian politics
Last post for me on that topic. Italians relate to and expect corruption, so it's more open. Trump ain't no saint, lol. Clinton a boy scout. Hah!
If you want to mix politics with the Stadiums, they go hand in hand. In February, Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi said they were going forward with plans to build the stadium. On June 4th, before they all went on vacations she said the stadium must wait and complete the "public works for the citizens, then football pitches.” On June 26th, prosecutors requested that a probe into Rome Mayor Virginia Raggi for alleged abuse of office linked to AS Roma's plans to build a new stadium be dropped. On Aug 1, 2019, she said after years of waiting for the construction of the new stadium, it can still become a reality. Anyway, in the end, I'll believe it when I see it. Even when its built, I won't believe it.
Just look at what is going on in Rome. I’m sure you are well versed in their hardships getting approved from the city government.
Its very difficult for those of us living abroad, especially in the US and Canada to believe this stuff goes on in this day and age. Living America I think we are all guilty of either pretending not to know , not wanting to know or believing that this stuff no longer exists. In reality though it happens here also but on a much larger scale and for bigger and better things as opposed to stadiums. Although I'm sure MLB & NFL stadiums were all done with some shady deals. They spent $1billion on Levi's (49ers) Stadium in Santa Clara and the planning and architecture was a completely screwy with some crooked dealings behind the scenes as well. The residents are paying all kinds of taxes and the stadium is not even that great. On the other hand in Italy, getting to that point is a nightmare! If things finally get done , they take forever but there is a reason behind it. If and when Napoli ever gets a stadium (which is an almost impossibility) , you can bet both the Camorra and the city government will surely get their cuts.
Cut and paste this into the politics thread and leave this one alone. @phat can tag @scrotti fan and we can learn all about Italian Communists or something equally stupid. Let's go.
It has to do with stadiums and why it’s hard to even get started in Italy. It’s perfectly within the topic of this thread.
Il nuovo stadio di #Inter e #Milan potrebbe essere affidato allo studio Populous, che ha progettato quello del Tottenham.
