There are thunderstorms all around Tampa right now. The Wednesday night games including USA-Martinique may be delayed.

I spent a summer hanging out in Tampa, and can't understand why they'd have a tournament in the summer there. It storms practically every evening it seems.

CONCACAF has ruled that French Guiana forfeits the game against Honduras.

Current standings after 2 games for every team:

    Group A
    1. Canada 4 pts +2
    2. Costa Rica 4 pts +1
    -----------------------------
    3. Honduras 3 pts +2
    -----------------------------
    4. F. Guiana 0 pts -5

    Group B
    1. USA 4 pts +1 (4 goals scored)
    2. Panama 4 pts +1 (3 goals scored)
    --------------------------
    3. Martinique 3 pts +1
    -------------------------
    4. Nicaragua 0 pts -3

    Group C
    1. Mexico 4 pts +1 (3 goals scored)
    2. Jamaica 4 pts +1 (2 goal scored)
    -------------------------
    3. El Salvador 3 pts +0
    ------------------------
    4. Curacao 0 pts -4

No team has clinched or been eliminated although the teams on 4 points are in pretty good position. Right now Honduras and Martinique would go through as the 3rd place teams.

US beats Nicaragua in a walk and takes B on goals. If you know your history Canada-Honduras actually does not bode well for Canada. I think there's a decent chance we get Canada as 3rdA despite the rahrah enthusiasm for current standing (Canada has a pattern of blowing it at the end and even doing so vs Honduras). CR wins group A, Honduras second a point behind. Mexico, Jamaica, tight between ES and Martinique for last spot at 3 points.

US will reboot team with better players after sputtering group efforts, and we'll see how far they go in the playoffs. Since there won't be any of the really good ones like Pulisic, who knows. No midfield playmaking, sloppy and ineffective wing play, failure to dominate on defense. Only some of that will get fixed when we do the roster swaps. Region is catching up and we were kind of playing around and trying Arena favorites with this roster.

Costa Rica wins while Canada/Honduras tie. That means Costa Rica wins the group while Canada advances. I believe that Honduras has clinched as well. The only way that Martinique or El Salvador could beat them out would put Honduras above Panama or Jamaica.

    Current standings:

    Group A
    1. Costa Rica 7 pts +4
    2. Canada 5 pts +2

    -----------------------------
    3. Honduras 4 pts +2
    -----------------------------
    4. F. Guiana 0 pts -8

    Group B
    1. USA 4 pts +1 (4 goals scored)
    2. Panama 4 pts +1 (3 goals scored)
    --------------------------
    3. Martinique 3 pts +1
    -------------------------
    4. Nicaragua 0 pts -3

    Group C
    1. Mexico 4 pts +1 (3 goals scored)
    2. Jamaica 4 pts +1 (2 goal scored)
    -------------------------
    3. El Salvador 3 pts +0
    ------------------------
    4. Curacao 0 pts -4

The Mexico v Curaçao match was excellent to watch. For a tiny island, the Curaçao players were very good on the ball, and athletic.

What's the deal with all the virtue signaling, and pearl clutching speeches before each match?

I believe many of the Curacao players are from the Netherlands and grew up in the Dutch system. I heard that Patrick Kluivert was named to the Curacao FA as an advisor in 2015 and he has been convincing eligible guys to come play for Curacao after they were separated from the Netherlands Antilles.

At least 16 of their 23 man roster were born in the Netherlands but are of Curacaoan ancestry. 10 of their players are in the Dutch leagues with another 8 playing somewhere in Europe.

That makes a lot of sense. While they were a bit unlucky in front of goal, they played an attractive, technically good style of ball.
