This is about the sum total defensive work DeRo did throughout his career.

Red Bulls looked very competitive against Chivas Guadalajara considering the dirty play, missed calls for, and the made up calls against them.

They really needed a road goal though because now they have to score 4 goals to win if Chivas find the back of the net in NY. BWP missed several attemps in the box 'a la Oduro' style.

I like the American guys playing for NYRB - Marsch is did a decent job in preparing his team to play.

Maybe I'm confused but wouldn't a 3-1 win for the Red Bulls get them through? Why would they have to score 4 if Chivas gets 1?

I count FIVE (5) players form the NY / NJ area on their roster most of which were decent players on the field last night against an large MSL club.

    Parker - Def NY
    Politz - D NJ
    Duncan - M NY
    Davis - M NJ
    Adams - M NY

We only have Memo who hardly gets to play despite the fact that he was improving so much through last year.

The overall failure of finding / developing youth players into first team players should make the Houston Dynamo organization to make changes to their youth development structure / operation but yet we just keep the status quo in that organization.

With probably a million youth players in this metropolitan area there really is no excuse for our poor track record.

I think away goals count double in a tie so if Chivas scores in a 1-3 loss, their aggregate would be three and the series would be tied. Maybe I am wrong.

That is exactly why I hate the "away goals count double" meme. Away goals are a tie-breaker. They do not literally count double. If NY wins 3-1 they take the series on aggregate, 3-2. That away goal for Chivas would only count extra if the aggregate is tied.

That is a stout number of NJ area products getting on the field in Mexico. I wonder how many of those men thought when they were younger boys that one day they would actually be getting paid to play soccer and doing so against Chivas away!

Having coached in our inner city youth ranks for 18 seasons now and I can assure anyone reading that our city has the solid, raw talent, adequate playing fields, terrific numbers of boys playing and soccer savvy coaches to cultivate the U-16 ranks. Thus our owners with "enough" capital can create what we witness in Utah with RSL. A top tier, residential youth academy. An Academy that just grafts in these U-16 to U-19 talents around our region. Say about 40 a batch for both age ranks. Have them live and breath the sport. This is where our club becomes a seller of talent over being a buyer of talent/drafting of talent.

NYRB...really. You couldn't lay down a single goal at home in the biggest intl match of your life. Really?

On the other hand, way to go Toronto to deny Club America an epic super classico vs Chivas in the CCL Championship match.

I am all Canadian for that championship match. C'mon MLS lets win this f***ing cup this year!!!

Toronto played very well. They did not look like the typical MLS side. MLS 3.5

Red Bull did not look bad either, but could not finish the plethora of chances.

Guadalajara wins the title on penalty kicks after goals and away goals were even.

That is Guadalajara's 2nd CONCACAF club title. They previously won in 1962.
