So, last year of the current deal, something like 5+ games on network/cable tv weekly.. it's a good time to be an EPL fan.. NBC's done a pretty good job with the EPL, will they be able to keep it? Stay tuned, true believers.
Pretty sure this was in the earlier thread, but it's pretty news worthy, so I'll bring it over here: http://www.nytimes.com/2015/08/07/s...mier-league-games-to-usa-networks-lineup.html Key notes on the upcoming contract 1) the EPL would prefer a single network host, so a joint ESPN/FOX bid does not look like a winner 2) The six year option is at the behest of the networks, who want a long term option like most other sports packages. 3) Bids are in, winner could be announced this week (However, if the top two bids are within 15% of each other, a second round of bids will likely be necessary) 4) EPL rights are expected to cost at LEAST double of the current package.
Why would they not bid the same amount the second time around, especially if the second round is as close as the first? It reminds of the FIFA presidential voting.
It's not so much the camera angle at Bournemouth as it is all the crap NBCSN puts on the top of the screen that makes the problem worse. The score bug in the top left is too big to start with, then they have the other scores running next to it, and next to that is the NBCSN logo. So when all of that across the entire screen is overlaid on a relatively tight angle, it does make for claustrophobic viewing. I was watching a cap of the raw international feed (like they use on the Extra Time channels) of this match and the lower angle was no issue with the small score bug the EPL puts in the upper left. In fact, last year they *reduced* the size of it, which was a good move.
Because you might be in 2nd place (I doubt they tell them whether they are in the lead or not), and still have room in your budget? (or you convince the higher ups you need a bigger budget?)
I'm going to have to watch "Gone Girl" today just to see that wanker in the Heineken commercial get his throat slit! Rewind, play, rewind and play again. Easily the worst commercial on TV since the Cars-4-kids song and they show it about 10 times per hour!
NBC has a horrible habit of running the same ads all the time one of these involves an actor who quite famously is an annoying person and got brutally murdered in one of his most recent roles.
I see I'm not the only one irritated by the constant showings of the Heineken commercials featuring NPH and his annoying smirky, snarky, smug deadpan act. Man, I can't stand that guy.
I still have yet to see the commercials people are alluding to in this thread. On the Windows and Android Apps it has mostly been Iphone and Apple watch commercials being looped over and over again.
.@NBCSports Group agrees to 6-year extension to remain the exclusive U.S. home of the @premierleague! #BPLonNBC That's official!!! That is after it was rumored that FOX-ESPN-UNIVISION-DISCOVERY were going to outbid NBC. 6 years of EPL on NBC. Good for them. Good for us!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SA www.soccertvblog.com
sounds like they did outbid them originally, but the EPL recognized a good partner in NBC. Less meaningful soccer on Fox is a good thing.
My guess is that it ultimately came down to 3-year vs 6-year deal. Perhaps FOX/ESPN/UNIVISION/DISCOVERY had the better 3-year deal and NBC was forced to go deeper into their pockets and commit to a 6-year deal. Just my educated guess. SA www.soccertvblog.com
Can't complain at all. Their coverage has been great. And it is nice to know they will be broadcasting matches for a long time. The every three year crap made things too up in the air and confusing for casual viewers I believe.
Looks like wst first had an article saying that the alliance of fox-espn-univison-discovery won. Thank god they didnt! It probably came down to the alliance winning the 3 year package and nbc improving their bid to win the 6 year package.
