Our toughest group game is up first. We got embarrassed when we went there last season. It was our worst performance of the season. The players will want to avenge that loss, and show the rest of Europe that the champions of Europe mean business again this season. I bet Klopp will go with the Champions League final team, minus Alisson. I could also see Gomez coming in for either Trent or Matip. We then can go with practically the same team against Chelsea before making eleven changes in the league cup and giving the first team a full week’s rest.
Rhian Brewster was substituted after just 15 minutes of Liverpool under 23s clash with Derby in response to Divock Origi's injury. Origi limped off in the 37th minute at Anfield, Neil Critchley had already named Brewster in his starting XI for the youth side on the other side of Liverpool for the 3pm kick off. A message was sent to Melwood soon after to take Brewster off as a precaution ahead of the Reds' Champions League opener with Napoli on Tuesday. Origi will undergo a scan in the next few days, but while Jurgen Klopp waits for the results he is ready to promote 19-year-old Brewster to the travelling squad to Italy.
^ Are you Clark Kent, mild-mannered reporter for a great metropolitan newspaper??? Is that you??? When you were younger, of course...

Chelsea play Valencia tonight. Valencia are a club in shambles at the moment so may not present much of a challenge. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ment-infuriates-fans-champions-league-chelsea
In the last days of our Saigon, when the helicopters were being pushed off the decks under the Hicks and Gillette idiocy, those two muppets pulled Peter Lam, the now owner of Valencia, out of the hat as the savior of Liverpool.
ditto.... last year (we weren't nearly as good) coming off of a very strong year end the year before we were pretty flat in a number of early games last year. And we were translating that into really non-effective play in the away games of the CL. Given the way we have started this season (curiously enough after a fairly mundane pre-season) I doubt we'll see the same kind of performances. I'm thinking this will be a good game. Napoli are pretty good - we are damn good....
