So far based on the preseoan I think our best team is Meret Di Lorenzo-manolas-k2-ghoulam Zielinski-allan Callejon-ruiz-insigne Mertens With younes very close
What does that comment add to the discussion? Did u even watch the game? Sassuolo could do better offensively Preseason this close to season start should be taken seriously
The fact we can't do anything to stress Barcelona's first team defence is very worrying, cause the space was there
They are on a different level than us. They are a Serie A team and we are a Serie B team to them. These friendlies were done for exposure purposes only.
my point exactly. they also got handed 2 offside goals to start off with, however they deserved to win at least 4-0
Did we say that when we beat LFC 3-0? yes the games were... in theory. in reality most managers use these last games to get the team ready for the season... I mean if it was just exposure why did Ruiz, manolas and mertens get the full 90 minutes?
I kind of agree with IL. We are in pre-season, hence experimenting, hence not playing with our strongest squad. Against a team like Barcelona, especially when they seem to be doing well like now, we absolutely need our full force. It's good that we gave Luperto such an experience, for due to the reasons already stated we'll have to stick with him. All things considered, we have really done well. The 1st game we were very good, and the second was ruined by bad refereeing and we probably would have done better against them even with our lame squad if it had not been for that. We had a clear chance to score that Fabian magically failed to take before the whole offside business, which was until then the best chance of the game, I think. The best chance can easily counter 3 good(or even very good if you have a great goalkeeper) ones. If you look at the 2 goals after the offside, our whole team was forward trying to show some grit even at the expense of conceding even more. The factors must be taken into consideration, as these things often influence even the best teams ever. If we had managed to get James, Lozano, and a decent striker, we would have been really scary, I think.
The point is bot the result. The point is we lacked creativity. Of course we are also arguing creative players need to come and we need them asap. They need to be integrated with the Juve game coming soon.
But of course the creativity is also influenced by the fact that we did not play with our best squad, or is it not? The argument remains that we simply must put in our best if we want to stand a chance against Barca, which we did not, and therefore the team was lacking in terms of confidence, coordination, and quality, all of which perfectly plausibly influence creativity.
Yes, that's true. But my point was that our team without key players is like a dog missing 3 legs, whereas Barca's team without their key players is like a dog with a little less shiny fur. My other point was that the 1st game was more or less a success from our point of view, while the 2nd one was influenced by the offside goals.
No one is panicking because of one game. I think we all agree we need two creative players to compete, ideally one of them a top striker.
Verdi - I agree Hysaj - I will carry him wherever he is sold to Ounas - Why can't we keep him as a sub? 1 more year won't hurt his value, i'd only sell if we get an offer close to 25-30. Luperto - He will be the 5th choice CB and meets the Italian quota. Milik - The fact he only made a sub appearance in the 2 games against Barca speaks volumes to me ..
So overall our preseason was Liverpool 0-3 Napoli Marseille 0-1 Napoli Bacelona 2-1 Napoli Napoli 0-4 Barcelona All games were pretty much played as the away team.. We played Liverpool in Scotland and they had a massive following. We literally played in Marseille and won in their home, both games in USA against Barcelona seemed to be dominated by Barcelona fans (which is what we should have expected) so I still feel confident we had a good preseason when you consider all of these factors.
If the Juve players turn on Sarri things might be interesting this year. Top 3 will more than likely be Juve, Napoli, and Inter. 4th spot Roma or maybe Lazio.
Milan has strengthened and will only need to worry about top 4 this year (They aren't in the UCL or EL) they'll play 4-3-1-2 and are reportedly getting Correa from Atletico once they sell Andre Silva. Correa - Piatek Suso Paquetta - Biglia/Benacer - Kessie Theo Hernandez - Romagnoli - Musacchio - Calabria Donnarumma They can definitely challenge for top 4
