    I don't buy this.

Rosenstein is GOP, McCabe was GOP, House was GOP, Senate was GOP

Why would they want to impeach at all costs?

Because they weren't Trumpist when this started. At least Pence would be one of their boys.

Then something odd happened. They fell in line.

Or maybe long time DOJ Officials and FBI people simply looked at the evidence and saw cause for an investigation given that POTUS just fired Comey in extremely suspicious circumstances?

    Call me ofd fashioned!

    A tale of 2 investigations:

    Benghazi by the numbers
The Benghazi Select Committee was tasked with investigating how four Americans were killed, including US Ambassador Chris Stephens, when attackers raided the US compound in Benghazi, Libya, in 2012.

The select committee itself was created by House Republicans in May 2014. The committee issued its final report on the Benghazi attack a little more than two years later in June 2016 and was officially shut down in December 2016. The select panel spent $7 million during the course of the probe.

The committee ultimately issued an 800-page report, which faulted the Obama administration on a number of fronts, and lawmakers questioned Clinton for 11 hours in an October 2015 hearing.

This is a severe level of wonkiness. Motherboard and the New Republic are not typically on my radar. Al Jazeera is but for non-domestic issues.

Yeah, that was bullshit too. Same with the Ken Starr witch hunt.

Not indicting could also mean that while Mueller believes it likely that crimes were committed, that he did not have enough evidence to get a high likelyhood of a conviction, this not worth pursueing against someone high up in the White House, or a dirrdi family member of the sitting POTUS.

Or he may have already filed those indictments and is leaving it to congress to deal with as they choose.

    Yeah we just don't know.

All the recent stuff with Cohen coming out of his congressional testimony has been rocking out of SDNY

That's where I'd expect Jr to be indicted

Mueller was clever to offboard all that stuff - makes it far harder to shut down

It's ancient history now, but the Fiske inquiry was more or less legit. It's when Ken Starr took over because Fiske hadn't found anything that it turned into a fustercluck of a train wreck of a dumpster fire of an abortion.

The relevant analogy would be if after 2018 elections, the Dems in the House somehow connived to replace Mueller with a stone-cold partisan attack dog.

    Here's what's odd about Greenwald

I had a bit of time for him during the Obama era, and I bought into the whole Snowden thing

But you would have thought with Trump replacing Obama and taking a wrecking ball to the constitution and rule of law, the likes of Greenwald should be manning the ramparts - but instead he still seems to mainly attack democrats

His recent Fix diatribes are extremely adjacent to Trumps own deep state propaganda

ok, because he is still a republican so yes he will still go after democrats.

But I thought he was a never Trumper, perhaps I am confusing him with the David Frum guy.

Regarding going after the investigation, many people have issues with the investigation, like that lawyer Hurwitz, he does not like Trump but hated the investigation.

For some reason Greenwald, who allegedly bought us Snowden, is more interested in Dem conspiracy theories, than actual discussion of the Trump malfeasance that is in broad daylight

Was the Moscow Tower a conspiracy theory?

    LOL

Meanwhile POTUS actually is in infowars-QAnon land

But GG has no time for that

Greenwald is anti-anti-Trump. He's not anti-Trump. You may be confusing him with someone else.

GG is on extremely questionable moral ground. He is living in Brazil with his POC husband. Good for him. But he's astonishingly dismissive of what GOP rule has meant for POC and gay men in the US. It's just an amazing act of self-regard and egocentrism.

He's also taking a huge salary from an angel investor for his role with The Intercept. Again, good for him. But other people at the site are getting laid off, there are cutbacks, etc. So, again, an amazing act of egocentrism.

Like Assange I think GG played us

In hindsight, his Snowden expose was highly questionable when you consider Snowden was hosted by Putin. Even if Snowden wasn't a Russian asset before he went rogue, he was definitely one once he landed in Moscow.

The after-effects are still with us, and will be for a long time, what with Brett Kavanagh going from partisan hack lawyer for Kenneth Starr to the Supreme Court.

Would you guys be relieved or upset if the investigation did not uncover wrongdoing by the president of the United States?

No. He's an anti-establishment guy who sometimes veers into conspiracy theories about what he sees as the establishment.

His Snowden-related work fit in because the U.S. intelligence apparatus is part of the establishment. Trump is a huge hand grenade thrown into the establishment, so to him, anyone who opposes Trump must necessarily be an establishment stooge.
