These reckless idiots are putting lives in danger today:Don Trump Jr. broadcasts whistleblower's name to his unhinged cult followers.Alex Jones broadcasts the identity of a juror, for a trial that will link Trump to Russian election interference, to his even crazier followers https://t.co/xJX0kxTwQY— Mrs. Betty Bowers (@BettyBowers) November 6, 2019
So the Stone trial is a thing - this thread has coverage Seems like Stone was plan and simple the point man between WL and Trump - co-ordinating on the DNC email drop On 7/31/16, Stone sends an email to Corsi telling him that "Malloch" — believed to be a reference to Ted Malloch — should see Assange, among others. That evening, Stone had a call with Rick Gates and two calls with Trump— Zoe Tillman (@ZoeTillman) November 6, 2019
Stone is so busted for perjuring himself before congress he blatantly lied about large amounts of digital comms he had with Credico Stone testified to Congress on 9/26/17 that Credico was "not an email guy" and refused to reveal the name of the radio host he said was his only go-between to Assange. But that same day he EMAILED CREDICO 72 TIMES.— Megan Mineiro (@meganmineiro) November 7, 2019
Not sure if I should rep your post or not. Nancy's parents were Annunciata M. D'Alesandro (née Lombardi) and Thomas D'Alesandro Jr., who both had Italian roots. The only time Italians compete against one another is on St Valentines Day.
For anyone wanting to follow the trial - this twitter thread is a go-to Second full day of Roger Stone's trial is set to start. Stone's lead defense lawyer, Bruce Rogow is wearing a blue bowtie. Stone is wearing a gray suit and the goofy round glasses he likes. Past example: pic.twitter.com/P9Ug8aZ4fj— Dan Friedman (@dfriedman33) November 7, 2019
It is the crux of the case against him https://www.vox.com/2019/11/4/20938848/roger-stone-trial-bannon-trump-impeachment
He’s a weird mixture of the Penguin and the Joker from the 1960s, with a pinch of an old Bond’s villain.
He's the guy that connects Trump back to Nixon, suggesting that Trump isn't an aberration so much as he's the latest manifestation of the slimiest part of the GOP
I wonder if there’s a book out there that is over a decade old yet still explains trump. That would be cool.
So I must admit I had not paid attention to Stone since the Mueller report but here is the conspiracy laid out in black and white. At this stage the prosecutors are not going so far as to say WL is GRU, but they don't need to because Stone is clearly coordinating with them in the furtherance of the original felonies in terms of hacking/stealing the Dem emails. He then clearly commited felonies in attempting to obsturct justice. So like any seasoned prosecutor, Mueller shot him down with the crimes which were easiest to prove. But in simple terms, Stone acted as the cut out between Trump and Assange and Assange was in fact the Russian cut out. As Wheeler explains, one begins to understand why Mueller did not charge this directly. Especially as, thanks to Trumps obstruction of justice and insertion of Barr at the DOJ, charging any of that stuff was going to be politically very difficult. I raise all this by way of explanation to the many people wondering how the abundant evidence that not just Stone, but Trump himself, worked to optimize the release of the stolen emails did not get charged. Mueller considered it, and in part for reasons that we should all respect, did not charge it. All that said, people experiencing cognitive dissonance should remember something else. Mueller’s Report only addressed crimes he charged or declined to charge. It did not — he said explicitly on page 2 — address collusion. And while Bill Barr tried to define “collusion” as “conspiracy between the campaign itself and the Russian government,” and having done so exonerated Trump of all collusion, the report itself does not do so. https://www.emptywheel.net/2019/11/...nce-of-learning-about-roger-stones-collusion/ So there is no great mystery here, and we can see clearly why Trump also ought to have been removed as President for obstruction - contrary to the nonsense of people like Taibbi & Greenwald. There is a "there" there
Wheeler puts it in her own words. Unlike Ukraine, the conspiracy is hard to explain, and lacks a Trump tape It has been clear since days after the Barr memo that the Mueller Report showed "collusion" (as defined by Mark Meadows) even if Mueller did not charge it. That's what is confusing people about the evidence submitted in the Stone trial.— emptywheel (@emptywheel) November 7, 2019
Feel free to contjnue. When he's convicted he'll make some crazyass speech referencing Nixon, his love of America and justice and maybe ask the judge if he'll have enough time to get that horrific tat removed from his back.
