After a lil' proading from one of my Blues Brothers :D I am attempting to make a movie thread here. Just really wanted some discussion about The Damn United, a movie about the Best Head Coach England never had. Sorta of gives you a bit of sympathy for the 3 Lions ;)

    yay movie thread

Thought the movie was constructed very well and that michael sheen played Clough as good as you can.

But what i liked most about the movie is how it conveyed the characters pride blinding the gradual realization of failure, and using it to show how an athlete overcame a loss to be a winner again.

Very few movies have shown this realistic nature of sport.

Another theme that I liked about this movie, was the showing of the weakness in Arrogance. It plagued everyone in the movie & only Clough was the one to realize this. The best part of this was this actually happened.

nothing beats a Shaw Brothers productions/Golden Harvest. They make the best. I have seen IP man. It was ok, but from the new MA flicks, Hero & Crouching Tiger/Hidden Dragon were the best in my book. I do like the stuff coming out of Thailand from Tony Jaa.

ps..I want to see Black Swan because of Natalie Portman :D

Disagree....I thought is was slow and predictable though some of the action scenes were pretty cool. The ending was the only thing that made it worth the fact that 2 hours of my life were gone.

And yeah, Alexis Texas rocks and rocks hard....pun intended.

Speaking of 2 hours of life being wasted, have you guys see True Grit. What is it about the Coen Bros. They either make movies i love like No Country, Fargo, The Big Lebowski :), or movies that make me say "wtf did i just watch" such as True Grit, A Serious Man, Oh Brother Where Art Thou?.

The 2 worst they ever made, Burn after Reading (lol george clooney dildo chair, WTF!!!!!) and Ladykillers.

the first one entitled, Cocaine Cowboys, i think the second one is called hanging out with the Godmother or something like that and mainly focuses on the fat ugly lesbian psycho that ran Miami

Haven't seen El Portero but I'm gonna DL. Love Spanish films, i suggest Intacto for anyone who hasent seen it.

Also has anyone seen Four Lions, british film, looks hilarious.
