http://torontosun.com/sports/soccer...-striker-gilberto-convinced-auro-to-join-reds some interesting tidbits confirming that quality of life in US and Canada is a big factor for some South American players choosing MLS over some other leagues, even European.
A few years ago the Crew played RSL in Columbus in CCL and it was around 10 degrees. I watched the game from a warm suite and still had frozen toes just from walking in and out of the stadium. What's the over/under for announced attendance for Rapids-TFC? Is the game part of the season ticket package?
Essentially, yes. All season ticket holders were given a free ticket. And most of them got extra free tickets this week as well. So probably over 10K announced, under 500 in stadium.
Not for MLS, he won't. Now if the Cosmos were playing, he's bundle up like Randy from A Christmas Story and stay out there all day and all night. But he won't deign to bless the Rapids with his presence.
Trust me, we haven't forgiven him for the last time he graced us with his presence. (He was ejected from a USOC game at the Dick when he was coach of the Silverbacks and their forward stomped Drew Moor on the head, setting off a fight involving both teams. That game ended with ATL playing 8 on 10 and both head coaches on the locker room. Somehow the Rapids still lost.)
