Reminds me of our ridiculous stretch in 2011 when Sporting Park opened. June 22 PHI 0-0 SKC June 25 SKC 2-1 VAN June 28 SKC 3-0 Chicago Fire Premier [US Open Cup] July 2 POR 1-2 SKC July 6 SKC 1-1 COL July 9 SKC 1-1 CHV July 12 SKC 0-2 Richmond Kickers [US Open Cup] July 16 HOU 1-1 SKC July 20 SKC 0-0 Newcastle [Friendly] July 23 SKC 4-2 TOR 10 games in 32 days. The fact that we only lost one game in that stretch was pretty amazing.
It's still ridiculous that we played a damn friendly in the middle of that congestion. I am so glad we don't do that anymore.
Something to watch, reports that Dallas could sell both Urruti and Barrios to San Lorenzo in Argentina. Would be crazy timing to sell now.
Seattle - Vancouver first leg may have been the worst MLS playoff game I have ever witnessed. Horrible touches everywhere and then add crap turf on top.
I've seen worse. Often skc has been involved. But yes, crappy game from two teams you would expect much better from.
Wow, look at Houston, from barely hanging on to the red line 6 weeks ago to playing for the Western Conference crown. Will an SKC first round loss to the eventual MLS Cup Champion happen for a third year in a row?
Columbus played a great game last night, but unfortunately couldn’t get one in the net after a bunch of great chances. It’s back to the frozen north for the MLS championship game. Heartbreaking for the Columbus fans as their team will probably move to Texas.
didn't even realize this game was on last night. stupid gaps in the mls playoffs zapped all of my interest.
Gap combined with the whole situation with Columbus has soured me on caring about anything mls unless it is SKC.
It was a fun game to watch. I hope the viewership numbers were high because it showed very well for the quality of MLS. I just hope tonight’s game is as entertaining.
Not at all disappointed that Toronto won. They had a great season, scored a lot of goals, won both the Canadian Cup and Supporters Shield. They capped off the season by making Seattle look bad by playing an excellent championship game. Remember just 4 years ago they had a crappy team. You have got to appreciate the job they have done in building an excellent program in Toronto. They deserved the MLS Cup. And.....any time Seattle loses, I'm happy.
I think we're gonna see the west spend big to catch back up. Should be a very exciting offseason. Toronto fully deserved that win though. Like they deserved it last year, too, but you can tell they built themselves around the idea of how to win that final. Seattle was so meek though. Weird to see them without any real bite or swagger.
Soccer capital of America huh? KC wasn’t even in the top ten viewing markets for the MLS final. It’s encouraging that viewership over the entire country is up, but we don’t seem to be as soccer crazy an area as we put on. I think the bigs at MLS like the jump in ratings, but also have to be very disappointed in two of their largest dual team markets ( LA and NYC) also didn’t crack the top ten. Seattle was the top local market with a 7.0 rating, the second-highest local market rating for MLS Cup on ESPN networks since 2006 (Portland’s 7.3 rating in 2015 remains tops). The rest of the top 10: Louisville (3.2) Columbus (1.7) Norfolk-Portsmouth-Newport News (1.1) Raleigh-Durham (1.1) Atlanta (1.0) Indianapolis (1.0) Portland (1.0) Austin (0.9) Birmingham (0.9) Memphis (0.9) Philadelphia (0.9) Toronto is not one of the 56 US metered markets. Updated ratings and viewership numbers are expected early this week.
I cringe whenever I hear Bukaty call KC the Soccer Capital. It sounds so cheesy and contrived, not to mention objectively incorrect in many metrics.
DAL-LAFC trade is interesting. Bob Bradley gets Walker Zimmerman, Dallas moves up to #1 in the allocation order and gets a load of allocation money.
Soccer Capital Of America! No Other Club! I have a suggestion for this season's slogan: To Seem, Rather Than To Be
