Louisville City has a nice thing going. Two straight championships in the USL, SRO crowd for the final against Real Monarchs, a new stadium in the works, and even an early lead in this year's USL Championship.
Pretty enjoyable first half. Real Monarchs 2, Louisville 1 - all Louisville for the first half, then more even in terms of chances.
First Monarchs goal undeserved, they barely had possession in the offensive third before. After, Louisville hasn’t looked like they want to play. And SLC just scored a third. Thx, Jay!
Sort of wonder if RSL actually gives Ochoa a chance at the #1 spot next year. I'm not quite sure he is ready right now, but he may be ready by the start or middle of next year.
Head scout Andy Williams told some fans that Rimando's replacement "is already on the roster" when they asked whether the team would go out and get the new player on the roster. That seems like Ochoa rather than Putna to me.
Would make sense since Ochoa has beat out Putna for the Monarchs. I will say that, while they are going to win the title, the Monarchs disappoint me as a II club. How many players over the age of 25 did they start today? Heck, I'm pretty sure that they started 3 players that were at least 27. Those players are not going to turn into first team MLS players. Outside of Ochoa they had one field player under 20 see more than 1000 minutes. NYRB II was worse in that they only played one teenager for more than 1000 minutes (Jorgenson) but at least they only had 5 players over 23 get more than 1000 minutes (and one over 25). The Monarchs had 7, with 4 over 25 and another 2 at 25.
US vs Cuba tonight! Everybody excited? No? Me neither, really. I may watch it since it's Tuesday night and my wife will be packing (leaves tomorrow for a family funeral).
Yes, Canada is done. They have a +6 goal difference. The US is already at +8. Any win will do for the US but it has to be a win.
Even more pumped when looking at the two dozen people scattered in the stands there in the Cayman Islands.
