I'm itching to get this going. Standings in this thread are done Win-Tie-Loss and traditionally from the perspective of the defending champ conference. That means the 2018 standings week-to-week will be done from the side of the East since they won in 2017. Teams will play one game against every team in the other conference this year. That means there will be a total of 132 inter-conference regular season games. Games in the CCL, Open Cup, and playoffs do not count. Past results: Yearly winners (W-T-L): 2017: EAST 51-32-39 2016: WEST 38-30-32 2015: WEST 45-20-35 2014: WEST 36-26-28 2013: WEST 41-22-27 2012: EAST 35-23-32 2011: WEST 57-58-47 2010: WEST 60-33-35 2009: WEST 42-28-37 2008: EAST 42-20-36 2007: EAST 30-26-28 2006: EAST 26-21-25 2005: EAST 37-16-19 2004: WEST 27-19-24 2003: EAST 29-21-20 2002: WEST 33-8-19 2001: WEST 26-14-23 2000: CENTRAL 31-13-30 1999: WEST 35-18-19 1998: WEST 36-9-27 1997: EAST 30-22-28 1996: EAST 33-16-31

Week 5 evens things up but then the East hosts all 4 games in Week 6. Things don't totally even up again until the first week of July. The midpoint of the inter-conference schedule is June 13. That is one week earlier than last year.
Does anyone think the West has a shot this year? That turnaround last year was pretty dramatic and I think we'll see more of the same this year--the East winning by a comfortable margin.
I will return to this thread after watching the first home Columbus Crew game of 2019. And only after that. Until then I am boycotting all MLS games, websites, and services and would be an unreliable conduit of information. Good luck this year, @newtex

BTW, the East now has a bit of lead thanks to their sweep last week but they have hosted 22 games so far while the West has just hosted 18.
