For early departures, Armas, Torrent, de Boer, and Hudson seem to be frontrunners (in no particular order). Perhaps that New England win Saturday saved Brad Friedel from the 'coaching relegation' ranks? Then again, it might have just delayed the inevitable.

Vanney's record in Toronto is proof that coaching stability (in any sport, really) is critical to success--along with good front office people and good decisions as it pertains to team selection for each contest. Being a good tactitian and making adjustments as needed also go a long way toward building a winner.

After this horrid start Armas has s#it away any goodwill he garnered after successfully managing the Red Bulls to another shield over these past few weeks. It's starting to feel like they got the points lead in spite of his leadership and not because of it.

That said I'd rather promote RBII coach John Wolyniec to the job than Henry. Titi feels gimmick-y as a hire if the rumor comes true, like they just wanted A name and not the RIGHT name.

What if RB hires Henry to coach RBNY2 and promotes current RBNY2 coach Wolyniec to oversee the first team?

I doubt his ego would allow it, that being said it would be a great learning experience for him. Wolyniec is the natural choice to replace Armas. He should have been the replacement for Marsch but Jesse I think helped out his former teammate instead of doing what was best for the club.

    No way.

Imagine this was your career. You're the executive vice president at McDonald's corporate. You don't do well there, so you're let go. Do you take your next job as a shift manager at Wendy's? Absolutely not.

That would be similar to Henry leaving Monaco and going to the USL.

Its also proof that when you get better players, coaches suddenly look like geniuses. Vanney would have been no better than some of the previous coaches in Toronto if he had the same lack of talent, in my opinion. For several years, TFC spent a bunch of money on bad players.

How many jobs (if any) are going to be on the line in next Saturday's Atlanta-Colorado game? Can either coach afford another defeat?

If there's a way to include Adrian Heath's future in this result I'm all for it.

I would guess that de Boer's job is in quite a bit of danger. Anthony Hudson appears safe. Expectations are somewhat higher in Atlanta than in Denver. I seriously doubt that there will be a change for the Rapids until at least the end of the season. Kroenke's other teams (Avs and Nuggets) are both doing well in the playoffs and the people running the organization don't even seem to know the Rapids exist.

No, regardless of results, the earliest Brad Friedel will be let go is at the end of the 2020 season. After all, last year the team sucked, but that was because he inherited Jay Heaps' team and once he got rid of the crap like Nguyen, Feilhaber, Kamara and a bunch of other guys named Salary Cap, it became his team, and stars like our Million-dollar-Mancienne can truly flourish. Friedel will lull the rest of the league into a false sense of security and then-BAM!--the rest of you won't even know what hit you!

Besides, if they fired Friedel, the Krafts would just have to go out and find another coach. And that takes a lot of effort and time. The Patriots pre-season starts in 3 months, whose got time for that sort of stuff!

I'm willing to bet that a loss in either of the next two games will get Hudson fired after the second game. They'll hope to rid ea new coach bounce through the following week in the Rocky Mountain Cup match under Conor Casey, and then we'll see what the plan is.

I don't see any way Hudson survives beyond the RMC match unless he wins it. Smith knows that their disastrous play combined with their disastrous (lack of) PR strategy in response to it last season really undercut what little faith/hope the die-hards had int he FO, I don't see him making the same mistake again.

Was wondering if this is the same as 'full faith and confidence' statement.

No, the dreaded "vote of confidence" is usually pretty vague, saying that the manager is doing a good job, etc. Which can change quickly with a loss or two. This is pretty specific, about a specific would-be candidate.

They are not liars if they let the current coach go after a vote of confidence and a subsequent bad run, but they would be if they hired a replacement who they claimed they never had serious discussions with.

Anymore, I take the 'vote of confidence' statement as code for: Our coach is on a short leash.
