Excuse me, kind sir, but the Sounders are 2W-3D-1L in the last 6 games. Keep that up and we're in the playoffs!!!11!!111!!!!
I was at the World Cup in 2006 (and 1994, 2002, and 2010). I don't think it is any coincidence that Italy missed 2018 and people are calling it "the best World Cup ever". EDIT: One of the most satisfying moments of my career on the sidelines was having my last day in South Africa be Slovakia's 3-2 win over Italy - a loss that condemned Italy to 4th place in their group (below New Zealand), and a game in which all of the worst of Italian soccer was on display.
It was pretty satisfying in the upper deck with an irate Italian-American behind me losing his mind at the prospect of finishing behind New Zealand. That said, Italy was fun to watch at Euro 2012, if I recall correctly. And it should be noted that despite its reputation, Serie A is not particularly low scoring.
I prefer not having to run the table the last 3 months of every season. Oh and the God awful football, did I mention that?
Legit question, I just moved to Chicago so I am still getting a feel for the Fire, how much do people blame Pauno as opposed to Nelson Rodriguez? I mean does Chicago have the talent to be much better than where they are in the table right now? I just remember liking what I saw from the Fire from last season and this season does not seem to be the same team
I'm shocked Stahre is still the Quakes coach, though their ownership likely doesn't want to have to pay him to go away........ Philly should have Stewart's successor hired in the next week or two from reports. It'll be interesting to see how that person views Jim Curtin. I don't believe Curtin is the issue in Philly, everyone knows it's the lack of funding for signing players (Striker in particular).
No, this is definitely not a universal position among Union fans. Curtin has produced below average results pretty much since he was hired. However, I would certainly agree that, given the ownership issues in Philadelphia, any Curtin replacement is likely to be cheap (and thus far from a sure thing to improve on Jim's record).
I agree. His record does need to be put in context. It's below average when strictly compared to other teams, though not the capability of those teams and the players on them. The Union have finished right where fans have expected them to each season, with the exception of 2012. Looking at the rosters the Union have had in Curtin's tenure, hardly anyone has expected them to make the playoffs or compete. It should be pointed out that looking at the rosters from the Union in the recent past.............they are littered with players who are either no longer in MLS, playing in USL, or out of the game. Keep in mind....the players I'm referring to were starters for the Union!!! Until the player acquisitions change (i.e. scouting is improved/more money is funneled in) it's not going to matter who the manager/head coach is down on Seaport Drive...............they're not going to get results that are significantly better than what Curtin has and is producing.
ultimately it's our cheapass owner. If I had to choose between Pauno and NRod, I'd say 50/50. NRod for starting the season short handed, even after knowing we needed help at keeper, defender, attacking midfielder and we still don't have them. Pauno for playing a different lineup/formation every game, not playing his best players available. Him throwing players under the bus, considering the person who got it wrong was himself. He's not a very good coach, if we had an owner that cared about his team. 1.He wouldn't of been hired in the first place. 2.He would have been FIRED along time ago.
Fair. That is one thing I really don't like, when coaches throw players under the bus. I get that it's supposed to fire up players sometimes, but it feels like coaches are more deflecting blame from themselves.
I hate to say it, but if you just moved from ATL to CHI, you seriously downgraded in the MLS department. Like, ownership wise, quite possibly from first to worst.
It depends, do you trust a "venture capitalist" or "hedge fund manager" to be the owner of your team? If, Columbus had Bridgeview's stadium deal instead of the Fire, we might have seen the Austin Fire by now.
Can you keep doing this whenever the Sounders are losing? That being said, they had better not start off next season like they have the last three.. It’s hard on my stomach lining.
If it was only that simple. Both finals they played like shit and looked clueless in attack. That cluelessness has crept into league play.
What having ZERO shots on goal in MLS CUP 2016 isn't exciting soccer. 2017 wasn't much better, but at least they gone 2 shots on goal.
