Neither of these games were in MLS but it's worth asking the question, what happened to the goalkeeper staying on his line rule? Penalty miss by Martinez in the Campeones Cup. Penalty miss by Abraham in the Super Cup.
No Friday night game? Must be a spot of kindness to let the Ismitjes go to the National Lentil Festival without missing a game.
So, Bundesliga starts this weekend and the Saturday games have a few MLS ties. Steffan starting for Dusseldorf, Gruezo starting for Augsburg, and Khiry Shelton is on the bench for Paderborn. Can't wait for him to get playing time and the inevitable call for him to get a call-up.
Zlatan has more goals by himself (18) than the rest of the team combined (15). The second leading scorers on LA have 3 goals.
You would hope that Galaxy would have a slightly different offensive look without Zlatan, and somebody would pick up a few more goals. I imagine that theory will be tested in a season or two.
Or you could just look at last year, where Zlatan had 22 goals, and the rest of the team still had 44. How much you want to put that on losing Kamara to China (and now DCU) and Alessandrini to injury between last year and this is up to you. The only other MLS team that is so dominated by its leading scorer is Atlanta, where Martinez has almost half of the team's goals there (20 for Martinez, 20 for the rest of the squad, and 3 by Owen Goal).
We had a nice win early in the season without Zlatan. 3-2 vs loons at home. Good attacking movement with Antuna as forward. I think we’ve looked ok without Zlatan each time he’s been omitted. In some ways we are better with more movement and more dynamic play. However he’s our only pure finisher so even with the positives I cited, without him we are pretty impotent.
PK to FCC, clumsy and unnecessary challenge in the box brings Lamah down. Horrible PK take by Ledesma, that is easily saved by Sean John
Lamah took a touch that would have taken him out of the play and then the defender clumsily knocked into him. Montreal is 1-0 on FCD from a goal from Lassi.
