Hah! There are 9 non-game days between the MLS matches on Wednesday, June 13, and Saturday, June 23. Do we refer to it as a "1 week break break in MLS action" when games are on consecutive Saturdays? I sure don't. MLS is skipping one weekend. At most it is a 1 week break.
Atlanta injury update: According to the AJC and MLSsoccer.com Miguel Almiron is questionable for the C-bus match (shoulder). Tito Villalba is considered likely to play, however, coming back from his knee injury.
It would probably be better for all involved, honestly. No one wants to go to Bridgeview to watch a frequently disappointing team on a Wednesday night against a downright awful opponent with an atmosphere that has been sucked dryer than a 2014 Chivas USA match due to the sheer contempt the club brass has for the supporters.
The Union? They played Toronto on June 8 in MLS and will play Vancouver on June 23. You consider that "two weeks off" since they aren't playing on the weekend of June 16? After the Vancouver game they will play LAFC on June 30. Is that taking one week off? I guess maybe I'm in the minority but if a team plays one weekend, skips the next weekend, and then plays the following weekend that sounds like taking one week off to me.
That's two weeks between league games. They are playing in the Open Cup on June 16, though most fans outside of the die hards won't notice.
Man, this half-assed week is being dominated by discussing clubs that have ownership that half-asses everything.
Mentally, they're not skipping at all for me. The Red Bulls play on the 13th, 16th, and 23rd. That's more than normal!
Spoiler: Morocco will win. Grifters gonna grift. Vote should take place around 6:30 AM Eastern. The NYT has an interactive vote-tracking chart: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/06/08/sports/worldcup/fifa-vote-world-cup-2026-host.html
