Nice article. The mention of that "$700,000 transaction" reminds me - The deal for Lee (there, I named him) had some conditions. I dug this up from ESPN:

I'm unable to find more specifics about these conditions.

IIRC, the Revs got additional xAM if LAFC gave Lee a pay raise, or moved him to another club, neither of which has happened so far.

Right. One conditional was if he got a new contract, the other was if he was traded/sold.

The Revs wanted to make sure that, 1) LN setting a precedent for getting out of an existing contract, and 2) that LAFC wasn't doing the deal to flip LN to one of their rivals.

Smart move by DCU to look to the Concacaf League as a scouting ground for central americsn talent. I actually watched him play both legs of the tauro's concacaf league loss to motagus, and he looked confident in the midfield. The top teams in CR, Honduras, and Panama arent as financially powerful as mls teams, but play well in the ccl, and i bet DC get a deal on a young central american midfielder.

If DCU gets him, that’d really piss off the Union.

Its a good hire. Successful head coach in both argentina and in mexico. I wonder if they promised him free reign similar to what tata has in atlanta. I guess we'll see when the transfer fees start to come in

    Have the Crew been saved?

    https://socceresq.com/2018/10/12/savedthecrew-deal-to-keep-team-in-columbus-largely-done/

I hope what the article says it true. If so, that would mean:

The Crew would remain in Columbus, just as they are, a continuation of the status quo, but with a new owner. They'd likely play in Mapfre for a few more years until a new stadium gets built. They may be technically an "expansion" team, but that's not what they are, in any sense of the word.

And Precourt gets to ******** off to Austin, where the reception is lukewarm at best. It may take him a few years to get a stadium built, if ever. My guess is that he dicks around for a year or so, and ends up selling the team to someone who actually has roots and connections in Austin and can get the deal done where Precourt couldn't. Or, there is some clause where he can sell the Austin "rights" to another city, and some lucky would-be expansion city gets an "existing" team that never played a game....

Remember when Burns needed a month after the 2014 season to take a vacation and not do his job.

How f'in far behind are we in this league at this point?

Montreal is on the outside looking in. They need to win in Foxboro Sunday AND get help from Minnesota (1-13-2 on the road) to get back above the red line.

Orlando travels to Harrison with their last chance to get a road draw this year (2-14-0).

    USL League One (aka D3).

This makes the 4th MLS affiliate in D3 next year (ORL, MIN and TOR the others).

Its lower cost and gives actual game time to players. Unlikely to see the returns of teams that have top USL sides, but most of the reserve teams were basement dwellers anyway. Playing at thd correct competition level will only improve the players they already have
