??? Our lads closed with victory over UGA to go 8-4, and then win a bowl game against Kentucky. Now, the year before... Ideally they should've torn down the Edge Center, as well, and then built the north stand to mirror the east, with a capacity of about 50k but a better ability to handle the crowds. Alas, Braine and co. were a bit overly ambitious.
Yeah, I know, but the season was so up and down that it soured me. We started nice, then lost a few... GREAT that we beat UGA and got the bowl win. But, it wasn't really that good a season, IMO. I'm old enough to remember the South end being a horseshoe bowl before the Edge Center was built. Sat in those seats for a game. I honestly don't know that they could really sell tickets much in excess of 60K total.
Well that is still yet to be seen. Also when making a comment like this you really should supply a link to what you are referencing instead of making people figure out what you are talking about. http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2017/...german-star-midfielder-bastian-schweinsteiger
Me and I can promise you a lot of others. I stay in soccer/MLS news and I had not heard about it. Just post a link next time. Pretty simple. Don't just assume everyone knows. Usually something like this would have its own thread in this forum, but I checked there first and there was nothing. So I found it on MLSsoccer.com
CONCACAF games often have reduced capacity to make room for additional journalists, safety margins, whatever. We played a qualifier against Guatemala at Childrens Mercy Park and the sellout was somewhere in the upper 16s. Whereas the normal capacity is 18.5 and Sporting usually are over 19 with SRO tickets.

Actually, Atlanta's low end game is over 45,000... So, they don't even reach Atlanta's low water mark.
It was less than pleasant today. Cold and rainy. There was only one ticket window open and there was no one in line. I would be shocked if they sold even 100 walk up tickets today. And the second home game typically is typically the lowest drawing games of the season in NE. Now granted this was the actual first game but some of the stand alone ticket sales went to the cancelled home opener. No one tends to buy for the second home game on the schedule. Here are the recent 2nd home games attendances for NE: 2017: 11,571 2016: 11,849 2015: 10,668 2014: 14,259 2013: 10,284 2012: 10,389 2011: 7,114
Would these games have drawn significantly lower during a mid-week date, such that it justified playing over the international break?
Gorgeous night in Ohio. High 60's. Calm. Most were either drinking or watching hoops, methinks. Gonna take some time for last year's stink to wear off.
Regular season is just too damn long and too damn meaningless. The '96er markets have caught onto that.
Doesn't have to be. Not coincidentally, the league with the most meaningful regular season games is the most popular.
Yeah, winning the SS and auto-qual for CCL is meaningless, as is qualifying for the playoffs which gets you a shot at winning the MLS Cup IE - the whole point of it. "Meaningless" ...
