What about team chemistry? Won't Sean Johnson be pissed? How dare they upgrade a position they already have a viable starter in!
http://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2016/...confirms-playoff-format-remain-unchanged-2017 Chances of making the playoffs drop from 60% (12/20) this year, to 55% (12/22) next year.
Good to see the most ridiculously easy to make playoffs in pro team sports become at least a bit competitive.
Seattle made a conscious decision that their season wasn't going anywhere, fired the coach, added players, and wound up winning MLS Cup. In the meantime, the Revs ... well you know. Congrats to Seattle. Winning MLS Cup without a shot on net. Wow.
Well, the team with the $12m payroll beat the league's most expensive team ($22m). Bradley totally bottled that penalty - wow. Frei should get the MVP based on that ridiculous save he made. It reminded me of 2002 up until the PLs. Was waiting for Jordan Morris to break and score the winner. Oh well, congrats Seattle.
From Chicago to Atlanta to NYCFC, Sean Johnson. Also, Parkhurst traded to Atlanta. NEWS: #CrewSC has traded defender Michael Parkhurst to @ATLUTD in exchange General Allocation Money.📰https://t.co/vLvtW7GOay#ThanksMP pic.twitter.com/IBiccGXX5S— The Crew (@ColumbusCrew) December 11, 2016
Atlanta is definitely not coming into the league quietly. NEWS: #Rapids96 acquire @ATLUTD natural 2nd round pick in 2017 MLS SuperDraft in exchange for an international spot: https://t.co/JP7fExtIeq pic.twitter.com/KI9pjk7WrD— Colorado Rapids (@ColoradoRapids) December 11, 2016
And more by Atlanta. Third pick in '15 draft, was actually loaned out so he could play, and then Montreal trades him for something. In the meantime, Revs draftees sit on bench so they can be cut.
Kind of a reminder that MLS Cup is a bit of a dubious achievement. Supporter's Shields are what makes me jealous. Though point taken about the Sounders not settling for being a lesser team.
What's funny is Lalas or one of the talking heads was on after the game saying MLS Cup is the best achievement any team could have, though I agree with you. The SS is a tougher achievement given the travel and endurance required. It's never celebrated though, which is a shame. However, SS winners usually drop out of the playoffs early (Dallas) so there's a bit of srategy involved in managing your season's priorities.
