    Congrats to SKC on their USOC win. Reading the box score, it gave me a chuckle that several Sporting players were booked for "unsporting" conduct. Hope they do MLS proud in the CCL.

    SKC has always been that way under Vermese - at least to me.

    Yeah, KC have been a bunch of punks for the last several years. As much as I don't care for Philly, I was hoping they would win instead of Topeka Benfica.

    Regarding "unsporting behavior," I noticed that in the official League writeups, a lot of yellow cards are described that way. It's kind of like the NFL's "illegal procedure," where you did something wrong, but we don't know (or don't feel like telling you) what it was.

    I noticed that too. I think it is a default setting, which (sometimes) later gets updated when they get the refs report after the game. This one obviously didn't, still 10 yellows all for "Unsporting Behavior".

    Wow, as bad as things are here on our inability to sign quality players, that organization is a real mess. I dunno if Nicky Sack was let go due to the ridiculous mismanagement of the GK situation, or if it was just another straw on the camel's back. He was the one who pushed for them to sign Mobli, (even thought that was nowhere near their greatest area of need) and we all know how that worked out.

    Looking at some of the points mentioned as "must haves" for the next (really any) GM, I wondered how well our man Burnsie rates in these areas:
    1. A creative thinker capable of critical analysis;
    2. Knowledge of MLS roster rules as well as an outsider can, thereby indicating a capability of mastering those rules once they become an insider;
    3. An understanding of economics, Moneyball/Soccernomics, and the concept of Buy Low/Sell High;
    4. Ability to manage a budget — i.e. the club’s salary budget;
    5. A personal touch that allows him/her to navigate social networks and build a good contact list of general managers, coaches, scouts and agents and thereby learn of available players sooner than later;
    6. Awareness and ability to take advantage of technical tools, such as Wyscout.com and Opta Stats, without relying solely upon them.
    #5 seems particularly lacking in Rev-land, in part, I suspect to the insular nature of Kraft Soccer Inc., and the "not invented here" approach.

    What would Revs become without him? Serious question.

    They have a list of candidates ready to replace him:
    1. Paul Mariner
    2. Nick Downing
    3. Khano Smith

    I really wonder if someone who actually had more tangible and intangible GM skills than Burns would fare any better in the highly constrained environment that is the Revs FO. Depends on where folks truly believe the power and ultimate decision making lies.

    In any case, let's see what happens in Philly with their GM. (Back on topic.)

    Philly becomes the 2nd team mathematically eliminated after losing to TOR 3-1.

    Mariner failed at TFC, albeit pretty much everyone has.

    Nick Downing is a physical trainer; he has no experience in the industry.

    Khano has been working on coaching and youth development; he has no experience in the industry.

    Things are just getting worse and worse for Jozy. He just picked up a red while on the bench for TFC.

    Toronto wins tonight 2-1 over RBNY, jumping right over us into second place (also with 2 games left) and clinching a playoff spot.

    Supporter's Shield is down to basically a two team race now, with LA on the outside looking in. RBNY and FCD both with 54 points with 2 games to go.

    Dallas is at RSL and hosts San Jose. RBNY hosts Philly and is at Chicago. The edge has to go to RBNY as they play the two of the worst three teams in the league (albeit, we couldn't beat them last time around). San Jose is still fighting for a playoff spot, so that last game may mean something to them.

    We may be out of contention for The Shield but we are running away with The Book. No one stands a chance. ;)

    Man, those 2 games against Philly and Chicago (one stinkin' point!) are really coming back to haunt us if we don't win our next two. Now all the "games at hand" have been played, and with 2 game left, we still need help from other teams. Nice of the MetroFilth to help us out last night :mad:

    The battle for second place and avoiding a play-in game comes down to this:
    Toronto - 49 Points, Columbus H and Montreal A
    DC United - 48 Points, Chicago H and Columbus A
    New England - 47 Points, Montreal H and NYC A
    Columbus - 47 Points, Toronto A and DC United H
    Montreal - 45 Points, New England A and Toronto H

    We can finish anywhere from 2nd to 6th, depending on how these other head-to-head matchups go. Let's just hope for draws involving DC, Columbus and Toronto, otherwise we'll have a midweek game for sure (and maybe not even a home game)
