mike duhaney & grover gibson playing against camerun

i just came from the test game mainz 05 against the camerun national team.
the game ended 2:1 for mainz05 with the goals from andrej voronin and peter neustätter.

mike duhaney came in after 20 minutes and grover gibson played the second half.
both played a good game. duhaney played left back position and he made it very good. sometimes his pass doesn´t come but in the defence he had no problems against the african champion.
gibson was everywhere on the field. he worked a lot and had some good moves and chances.
the 2 us boys are the winner of this game because they showed that they can play on the higher level.
i think they will get a chance to play in a real game in the near future.

Nope, was just shootin' the sh** with him via IM. He thinks he's doing well and should be playing, like any player.

He really doesn't talk about Mike, but then again, I don't ask him about Duhaney.

    news

this is an article from the newspaper "rheinzeitung" about mike duhaney in mainz.
sorry it is only in german. perhaps you know someone to translate.

Duhaneys Familie kommt in Mainz an.

It says, due to injury, Duhaney might see some first team playing time. Coach complimented his aerial play and his "eye for the ball", but says his positional play must improve.

Coach says he needed time to get used to the speed of play, which he believes is a higher standard than MLS.

Sure olaf or someone else can fill in the rest.

I hope Duhaney does well, but he sure didn't impress in MLS. I hope he takes his chance here.

    Re: news

    Full translation:

Mike Duhaney was one of the winners at the 2-1 success in the friendly of FSV Mainz 05 vs Cameroon. The American left backer moved closer to the roster for the Wednesday game against Oberhausen...

On Thursday evening Mike Duhaney was playing for one hour against the national team of Cameroon. The American player took advantage of Marco Rose's substitution (dizziness) to get a huge step closer to the 18 player roster for the Wednesday game at RW Oberhausen. "Mike can jump extremely good and he's got a good eye for the ball. What was missing so far was the good positioning", said 05-coach Jürgen Klopp yesterday. Against Winnie Schäfer's 'Lions' the coach was satisfied with the positioning. Klopp: "Mike is a topic for Oberhausen".

From Monday on the 28 year old American might be even more self-confident. Duhaney's family arrives in Mainz. "The long separation from wife and kids was recognisable", said Klopp. The first time without his family was difficult for the left backer. Klopp: "Mike had problems with the speed of our game". In the American Major League Soccer the playing style is more relaxed [or cosy/comfortable/snug?]. And when Mainz was practising the positioning intensely, the new player often was missing to due smaller injuries. The appearances with the D4 amateurs cared for a little compensation.

What Mike Duhaney kept, is the will to solve critical situations at the own box with playing qualities. This causes praise and blame. If he's succeeding big applause is aware for him. If not...
"Teaching a man how to play soccer is much more difficult than getting this out of his head", said the FSV-coach
