Not sure where to put this: https://www.skysports.com/unaiemery A bit of a timely puff piece, but it’s something. He talks about making players uncomfortable to get more out of them. About being patient. About this being the first club that’s allowing him to build from the bottom. Some other stuff..nothing earth shattering.
Even pro Arsenal Amy Lawrence is asking the same question a few of us have asked for months. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/feb/01/arsenal-identity-under-unai-emery
I think it is unfair to properly judge him until Next year Wenger decided thenidentit of the team and emery has had to deal with what he has Imo his philosophy was clear on that run we had Quick transitions overloading with width and drawing in thenopposition to counter
The common thread between Wenger's time and the brief stint Emery has had so far appears to be injuries.
Yes. Hard to say if coincidence or not. Holding, miki, Sokratis, and Danny at least we’re random and don’t seem to be directly from over training/playing. Ramsey has been managed well this season so far as has Kola who both have a bit of injury history. I think under Wenger the club already started to move toward more “sturdy” players along the spine. We routinely had 4 or 5 CMs out at a given time under AW. With Xhaka who is almost always fit, and now torriera/guen emery can pick a stable 2 of 3 for almost every game. Ditto for the front line. Laca has been managed well and been available for almost every game. PEA almost always plays 30-34 league games his whole career. CB is still an issue as is RB, but I’m hopeful the club will work on that this summer.
The injuries have almost always come from a lack of depth. We have one player for each role and nobody who's versatile enough to cover other spots. Right now we have quality depth at ONE position (CF), and both of those players are versatile. We have one good DM, one good distributor, one Ramsey, and one Ozil. None of the other midfielders on the team are good enough to perform any one of those roles at the caliber required of a top 4 team.
Interesting perspective. Given what they had to spend on signings, Poch & Emery come out looking quite good. And Klopp doesn't quite. But then look at where LFC is a few seasons on, after quite a bit more transfer budget spend I think.
What are they counting as "spending"? Klopp was appointed in October he went to 2 finals with Brenny's squad, including a 32M Benteke. From Summer 2013 to May 2018, LFC spent less than 80M net in the transfer market. Emery is relying on 2 strikers which cost a combined 100+M pounds. Seems a silly table.
What did they pay us for Song or Hleb? Rinsing Barca for cash doesn't seem that difficult. Would genuinely not be surprised if we sold them Ozil for 35mil and Dembele.
Barca don’t have space for him They have messi and dembele our wide and a multitude of cms now de jong is coming
I'm not suggesting they could or should buy Ozil, I'm just pointing out that their transfer purchases from Arsenal haven't always made a lot of sense.
Sorry, mixed you up with @And_ROOS who said: But shoot, I'll buy you both pints for a night if Barca buys Ozil!
That might involve a little bit of travel, you can stop off on the west coast on your way to Australia.
