Pellegrini is so composed for a young guy. Really impressed with his play! He looked like a starter. Under looked good as well. Excellent shot off the crossbar. Kept it simple and played well going forward and tracked back a few times. Too bad he didn't score on that peach pass from Kolarov. Another excellent game from Kolarov as well. He still is such a quality player. It was great to see such a performance from Florenzi. We missed his class and energy. The guy just makes plays from where he is on the field. Forza Roma!
Decent win against a frankly piss poor Verona. We should have scored more really. Great to see Florenzi back. He looked tonight like he was never out at all. Good games for LP and CU, especially LP.
Very pleased with the result. Yes, Verona are shit, but these games are not any less important. The thing that pleases me the most is the squad depth. I can't remember the last time we had so many players to pick from. This will prove to be crucial during the course of the season. My only concern is no real alternative to Kolarov. I don't want us to run him into the ground while Emerson is gone. Perhaps Jesus/Moreno could be used for rotation there.
At this point I think Pellegrini can offer more than Strootman who hasn't been the same since his injury.
Ah, that's what it seemed like to me with how Peres' face was, but I thought I might have been reading too much into it.
Verona really suck. +1 on situational management for EDF. He put out a lineup that would bomb forward and take advantage. Fast and loose will not work against everyone. Ünder needs to start from now on. He's much more natural out wide, comfortable in possession, good off of the ball. One of the few performances I'm comfortable saying will recur regardless of the opponent. Defrel could end up a bust signing through no fault of his own.
I believe that his purchase is conditional. I'm not sure what the conditions are that trigger the purchase. I think Defrel would have worked if we purchased Mahrez and he was the backup to Dzeko and emergency wing player
Verona are awful. They looked so disinterested in their pregame warmup, I literally was about to throw some money on the game after watching that trash. Alisson - Good. Solid. Clean sheet. Florenzi - Wow. Have I missed him running up and down the flanks. He's such a good teammate too, he goes out of his way for his teammates and the fans for that matter. Mano - Seems to be out of his preseason slump. Fazio - Was good enough. Actually impressed me in possession a little bit. Kolarov - I dont get how he wasn't in Peps plans at City. Unbelievable left foot. De Rossi - Quiet. But his work rate really is remarkable. I thought he was subpar against Atletico, glad he bounced back. Not sure why he went 90 but ok. Radja - Besides his goal, I thought he was actually pretty quiet. Pellegrini - Really impressed me. Showed a lot of quality on the ball, and impressed me in the opponents half. SES - I think he is a bit of a one trick pony, but his work rate has gotten so much better. He tracks back on D. His dribbling is so key for us. Dzeko - What else do you want? Cengiz - Really liked his calmness on the ball. I think he's only going to get more comfortable with his teammates. Schick - Looked completely lost out there besides his one shot that he hit right at the GK. Gerson - Nothing Moreno - Minutes for him I guess
Unrelated to the game, but to the coverage. People who bitch about Bein nonstop realize that through BeIn you can stream every Roma game, right? Are we really gonna get better Serie A coverage elsewhere. Look at the current add on subscription fees for EPL streaming through NBC....
I liked Pellegrini as well. He plays the protagonist nicely. I just don't know if we can afford to have two free roamers in midfield against anyone decent. We complain about depth in the past. Now we're too deep. Go figure.
