If Monchi bought Illicic and Illicic wasted even half the chances he wasted today in a Roma shirt people would be calling for Monchi's head.

And today's game was not one of them.

Ffs man, you do not want to risk having one available CB, Marcano, for a vital game. It's a no brainer. Thankfully EDF is not that thick.

Tbh, it was more of a full team fvck up, we can always single out the defence and gk but they were constantly under pressure.

Without a doubt, his weakest aspect. Twice against Atalanta doesn't react until it's too late. Atalanta would take a lot of champions League teams to school, nothing but respect for how they've went about building their club to this level.

Really? The guy has been awful all season. He's absolute trash and it is beyond me why he was ever signed

Nevermimd, Monchi said we would have a great squad and the "Great One" (Olsen) is a part of that...Pathetic.

Roma has lost one game in league since the beginning of December....to Juventus.

They've been without De Rossi this entire time. Without Dzeko for a lot of it. Without Pellegrini for quite a bit. Without Pastore (who lest we forget was the biggest signing last mercato).

In that time EDF has close the gap to Champions League spots to 1 point, helped to establish Zaniolo as one of the brightest young stars in all of Europe, and mostly steadied the ship ahead of the Champions League match vs Porto.

I mean, sure we can fire EDF. Paolo Sousa is available. Thierry Henry stares down kids who don't put back their chair after an interview at a press conference. Maybe Mou could install some discipline.

I get the frustration. But some of you are acting like this hasn't been the case with every Roma team since Capello, and he's not coming back.

EDF has brought the season back from the brink. He put this team in a position that they were 3-0 up in Bergamo with fourth place in hand. This is on the players at least as much as EDF, probably more.

Cristante did not have a great game IMO, very unsure about him defensively.

Watch the highlights and see how easy for Atalanta to hold the ball in Roma's half without pressure.

First goal was clearly Nzonzi and Pel's faults. Kolorav taking a stroll inside the penalty box instead of sprinting towards Gomez who had all the time to cross the ball.

Second goal, again no pressure at all starting from Krasdorp, Pel with an attempt and that's it. 4 easy passes that lead to the goal with Pel's half attempt in between to stop the attack.

Third goal is a joke starting again from the midfield all the way to the goalkeeper. The players are just jogging around the Atalanta's players during the play. Not even one tackle outside the penalty box.

Watch the difference between our goals and their goals. Roma played fast and stood against aggressive pressuring from Atalanta. It was clear we were superior against them when it comes to attacking but are was inferior when it comes to defending.

After this match it made me realize how prophetic the thread, **Di Francesco & the Ghost of Zeman**, actually was. This defense is as bad as anything Zeman could conjure up.

What did EDF say about Kluivert? Something that he was really upset at his play?

Kind of messed up to throw one player under the bus when the whole team shut the bed.

Rewatching the first goal I had flashbacks to when Mandzukic manhandled Santon to get Juve's goal.

Our outside backs; Kolarov, Santon, Florenzi, Karsdorp. None of them really know how to defend. Maybe you can get away with that when you have a superman goalkeeper like Alisson, or two strong central defenders, but we really only have Manolas.

Virtually every team knows they can come down our wings and get in a cross unimpeded, or throw in a cross to the back post and have an advantage. We'll forever be victimized by this until their is a change in personnel.

We have a ton of holes and aging/injured players. Somehow, someway, we just need to scrape into the top 4 this season , and rejuvenate the squad with some fresh (young) blood in the summer.

We are too passive, slow and lethargic too often. Get some athleticism and get some dudes who play with some fcuking edge. Mancini would be a great start, imo.

Also, I cannot wait for De Rossi to be back. I expect, like last season, our form is directly correlated with him missing time. The dude raises our level , I don't care what anyone says. We need that true leader on the pitch , and we sorely miss his intelligence.

I kind of disagree. EDF sent the signal loud and clear to shut up shop and play for the draw, even at 3-1 up. We invited pressure because that is what EDF wanted. Why else would you bring on Fazio? Why else would we play with basically a flat 5 at the back? We have one of the best CFW in the world at hold up play and we never once tried to put Atalanta under pressure. That is on EDF. EDF didn't instill a mentality of going out there and putting the game to rest.

Individual mentality and mistakes go to individual players. Collective mentality goes to the coach.

I think this is way too simplistic. You could just as easily say that EDF saw the team was shitting themselves and put on Fazio for defensive stability. Who do you put on if you want to keep the pressure? With no De Rossi there is no sub EDF could realistically make to keep us in control. There is only so much a coach can do. And Dzeko one of the beat strikers in the world at hold up play come on mate

Its getting depressing not being able to enjoy taking early leads. Im at the point of wishing we dont score early in a game because the players will usually shit the bed later on.

Whats quite shocking though is how many times have those famous "blackouts" occur under different coaches

We invited pressure after the first goal, and proceeded to score 2 more goals. Difference between that and the 2nd half is we couldn’t pass it more than twice without losing it

    This is it.

People can point the finger at EDF all they want, but these issues existed long before he showed up.

I can't remember a season where we've blown so many two goal leads since LE or Zeman tho.
