Hopefully we see Dzeko off at half time. Even if Schick isn't fit for 45 minutes, bring in someone else to give Edin some rest.
They really suck. That looked like those preseason friendlies against the Swiss lumberjacks. I can forgive Spal's loss of energy after the red, but all of their clearances have been careless and are just begging one of our guys to smash a volley into the net. Side note: I don't care for the way they used VAR on that red. It's meant to catch things that the ref missed, not armchair quarterback a call they made.
Always a formality after the red. Schick on and to score hopefully and perhaps a good opportunity to get Emerson back out there.

I repeat myself: if someone really pays 37m for Manolas i'll be a bit surprised. And not sad at all. He's good and I'd keep him for the sake of consistency. But he's also easily replacable.
It was off target. Gerson has to start instead of Strootman, he’s way better at this point. Right side started breathing once Shick came in. He’s going to be huge.
2nd half was dull but Schick and Emerson got playing time, we got 3 points and nobody shredded their knee so a huge success.
EDF's experiment putting Strootman at CDM in the second half today might be a sign that he's considering something long term. A lot of us said Strootman's future might be at CDM, especially with him not really fitting the bill of EDF's box to box CM's. Or it might just have been because Gonalons was asking to get a second yellow, and DDR was suspended.

I think it was the latter. Nonetheless I think Stroot at CDM is where he belongs nowadays. He has all the attributes to be very solid here. The requirements of the position would suit him better. Calling a spade a spade here, Stroot has been mostly poor this season when it comes to the attacking phase. Still a starter against most types of opponents for me though. His contribution to games isnt the eye-catching kinda stuff, it goes mostly unnoticed. Seems a lot of people here are only noticing the negative side of his play so far this season.
Dzeko can be great at holding up the ball, but damn it does he frustrate me when he inexplicably holds on to the ball too long rather than passing it. Often does it. There was a play in the 2nd half when he picked up the ball around the 18 with his back to goal. Rather than slipping someone through (cant remember who) with what would have been a fairly straightforward pass, he held onto the ball with 2/3 markers around him and the opportunity was gone. Poor decision making, poor vision or just outright ball hogging.
