I think we might be getting to the stage now in which certain players could do with a bit of a timeout. This is a must win of course, but I wouldn't be opposed to some heavy rotation here, although I'm not exactly expecting it. A possible line-up that give the likes of Radja, Dzeko (out of sorst lately) and Kolarov (standards have slipped a little lately) would be: AB/Mano/JJ/Peres/Moreno/Gonalons/Stroot/Pellegrini/El Sha/Gerson/Schick Perotti and Fazio get a break here too. That's then a seriously strong bench if things are not going to plan.
I wouldnt go that far. He's 2nd choice end of story. You dont rotate your GKs for the sake of giving your 2nd choice a run out. He'll probably start in the Coppa though.
playing 1 game in 15 is not rotating. If Alisson gets hurt do you really want to have a guy that's not played a single min? WS has played 4-5 games for Juve this season. Nobody is talking about splitting time, I'm talking about giving your reserve GK a game once in awhile in the event you need him later.
Obviously I wasnt suggesting 1 in 15 constitutes 'rotation'. I used the word wrongly in my previous post. My point still stands. You dont bench your first choice GK just to give your 2nd choice a bit of game time for a league match, because your first choice might 'get hurt'. WS is replacing Buffon who is 40 dont forgot and retiring very soon. So not a good example. Can you name me another team in Serie A that benches their first choice now and again just to give their 2nd choice a run out? AB got the EL last season. I'd imagine LS will get the Coppa this season.
SPAL have actually been a somewhat tricky team this season. It wouldn't surprise me at all if they pull a Crotone late in the season. Still though, this would be a good time to rest guys like Dzeko, Radja, and Kolarov.
Does anyone live in Rome and have an AS Roma card here? I just returned from the Middle East for work and am really sick, and I don't think I'm making it to the game Friday - have a ticket to get rid of lmk
So Radja gets a rest and with DDR suspended the midfield picks itself. Sounds like Schick will start. Personally I'd give Dzeko a rest too and go with El Sha, Gerson and Schick up top. Not that I'm taking SPAL for granted by any means, but I'd go the whole hog and give Kolarov and Florenzi a break too and play Moreno and Peres. It just seems like the right moment to me to make these changes and rest several regulars ahead a big CL game and a generally packed schedule. Emerson isnt ready to start a game just yet by the sounds of things. Such a degree of rotation is probably unlikely though.
Ah get over it. DDR had a brainfart. Nothing new there. We dropped 2pts. Has the Earth stopped spinning too? No. So move on.
I'm excited to see Schick, the kid looks really special, the same feeling I got from Fazio in his two late cameos last season before given a start.
No the earth hasn't stopped spinning, but its still frustrating and potentially very costly. Hopefully we will stick a few past Spal today and gain some points over napoli or juve or hopefully both.
While I'm anxious to see Schick I'm a big believer in easing injured players back into the lineup. I think it's important for fitness, regaining form, building confidence and most importantly not aggravating the injury. We tried to rush Karsdorp and Florenzi back and that didn't end well. Let Schick play 4 or so matches coming off the bench before we start him.
Did the manager seriously wait until they conceded to change the formation? FFS, Manolas is a moron. Aimlessly dribbling through the midfield like a u-little.
