God they're wasting so many chances! If Colombia had those chances, It would be a different scoreline!

Colombia's strikers are a cut above the rest of the group and some way beyond.

    Surely Drogba now?

Seems like a stealth-bomber shaped moth with feathered wings, some kind of super-hybrid weaponized spectator!

Another header! Although I think that this was a goalkeeper issue...

IC can build on the lead once Japan starts leaving more space

Honda looks gassed. He conceded possession far too easily leading to that first goal. Japan was too content with that one goal lead.

and Gervinho with another glancing header, quite a turnaround here since Drogba entered the game, a moral boost if anything else, although he had a great run immediately.

Kawashima, Japan's goalkeeper will be mightily disappointed, BUT, Ivory Coast deserve it.

Such a stinker CIV was putting together before Drogba came on. Too many back passes, poor movement and noone, and I mean noone wanted to shoot anywhere near the box. Amazing what happens when the talisman is on.

It almost seemed to remind the rest of the team that the objective is to play the ball into the box and try to score. Amazing how that run changed the mindset of the team. He's the leader.

Feels like they're falling back to sleep again though...

Actually it is. They've long since established that they do not want to be represented by the Anglicized name. They're a French speaking country, they have that right. Japan is actually Nippon or Nihon, but they accept a name that was given by outsiders.

Côte d'Ivoire plays a very direct football, no wonder they can* score by headers with players like Drogba and Bony, you just need to know how to cross.
