01' 0-0 María León hip-checks Huth down at 27m 6-right, foul. Ominously, dark rain clouds gather over Valenciennes ... and the rain is underway :D

03' 0-0 Wow, the whole pitch went dark(er), just from the rain. Long forward pass into Huth's stride through box top left, Marta(?) pokes it away.

LM Lena Oberdorf is 17 yrs old

06' 0-0 Spain longball from circle right sends Nahikari on a breakaway through box top right post, ahead of 2 but they overtake her at 10m, Doursoun slides down in front and blocks ball away rightward.

Breakaway for Spain but the German central defenders just barely fast enough to shut it down.

Great start to this game. Some great touches from the Spanish players. Best level of collective quality to start a game that I’ve seen so far.

No pressure today for Spain, enjoy the game, even a lost is not very bad.

I don’t know why, but the constant use of “frame” irks me.

14' 0-0 Spain have 57% possession so far, and have launched more of the attacks that reach opponents' box edges.

14' 0-0 Hermoso(?) forward pass from circle left drops perfectly over Nahikari's shoulders splitting the CBs through arc top, to spot. Schult charges out and slides down, Nahikari shoots toward left hand, deflected wide left.

16' 0-0 Spain send another longball over box top mid-left, Hendrich misplays a stoop header try. Nahikari overtakes her on the inside at 5m 8-left -- and slips down planting on the wet grass, misses ball completely. Hendrich clears up wide right -- directly into Alexia(?) filling space. Square pass right across box top, dummy-over at box top left post, Meseguer shoots one-touch right foot from 1/3 right and pulls it wide left low.

17' 0-0 Off that gk, Germany play Huth down box right to 5m mid-right. Backpass to Gwinn at 12m mid-right, she shoots rising to right post, Paños catches face-high.

22' 0-0 Corredera left throw-in at box top, simple give-and-go off Hermoso to 8m wide left, Corredera's quick kick floats to left post, Schult catches high. Spain are dictating with short passes, Germany play for counters :p

Holy f*ck that replay of the head collision... Absolutely should have been at least a yellow, that was so late.

Conversely, there's not a ton of pressure on Germany. The bigger issue for them is adjusting to the loss of Maroszan.

26' 0-0 Hendrich crosses from box top wide right past Popp near spot, to Oberdorf at 14m mid-left. Oberdorf gets closed down 1-v-1, backpass. Schweers(?) crosses from 15m wide left to 5m 1/3 right, Paños dives out and slaps it away between 2, Spain clears.

29' 0-0 Huth receives at 27m wide right, early diagonal pass to Gwinn running on at 5m mid-right. One-touch backpass intercepted by María León, she clears into near touch.

30' 0-0 Sunlight returns, casting a shadow along the near 1/2 of the field. The rain has traversed the length of the stadium :D

32' 0-0 Germany longball drops for Huth through box top mid-right to 12m, right foot shot saved by Paños.

33' 0-0 Mariona left ck, to 6m 1/4 right, poked away through box top center. Shot deflects to 2m 4-right, Schult comes out and collects it.

42' 1-0 Gwinn chips down wide right for Huth toeing the back line. Huth chases to 4m wide right, one-touch cross to 7m center, Popp dive-heads to goalline center. Paños sprawls (her) left and blocks, ball spins away to 1m left post. RB Marta follows ball but slows up her footwork to clear leftward, doesn't sense Däbritz overtaking from behind -- slide-poke through/around Marta's feet rams ball into back left low.

    HT 1-0.

Hidden plays:. That header from Gwinn to Huth, keeping the ball alive and starting the play, well, it.was a thing of beauty.

I was out and missed most of 1st half, but I've seen Däbritz's goal. Bad mistake from Spanish DF after Panos' save.

What did I miss? I've got a rough idea from the previous posts, but I'd anyway appreciate more details...

Well, Spain dominates the game and have a couple of very good chances, specially a one on one of Nahikari that shoot very bad. And in the first clear chance of Germany, goal.

 For the goal Marta seemed to turn her head to see who was behind her rather than just clear the ball. Pretty basic stuff.

Germany 6(4)-(1)8 shots(sog), 0-3 corners, 3-0 offsides, 25-5 clearances , 3-3 fouls, 42% possession, 65% (85/131) - (202/258) 78% passing. Germany's dogged defense has held up against Spain's pressure, and their longballs down the right to Huth worked once.

It's sloppy. A lot.of heavy rain. Both teams equally affected.

Spain had two nice breakaways in the first 10 minutes. Both chances were rather poorly taken. They weren't gimmes, but.at this level, they ought to have been converted.

As.the half has progressed, Germany has played into the game and the last 10 minutes, they've had more success getting wide.

I'm finding that I'm completely disagreeing with the announcers on just about every point they've made.
